The Golden Jigsaw Decides To End!

The Golden Jigsaw Decides To End!

News reaches us today that The Golden Jigsaw competition that launched back in July is to close at the end of October. The competition started life offering players the chance to win $1million, but unfortunately slow take up by advertisers saw the game changed and the prize money drop. These changes though were not enough to inject new life into the game, and the organisers have therefore decided to end the competition.

A Good Concept

It’s always sad when something different in the competition arena isn’t successful. The concept of The Golden Jigsaw was good, but the idea of individuals undertaking a treasure hunt online in order to win a prize is seriously negated when answers and links are shared on forums and other social networks. That coupled with the lack of enthusiasm from advertisers to purchase jigsaw pieces meant that the organisers were always going to face an uphill battle to maintain user interest.

Still A Prize To Be Won

When the game was changed so that visitors to the advertising sites just visited a page to collect pieces, as opposed to solving clues, it was hoped that that would generate more interest from entrants and advertisers. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. However, the good news is that there is still a prize to be won and jigsaw pieces will need to be found up to the 30th October, when someone will pick up the prize fund. Sadly it’s not going to be a million dollars!
