UK poker pro Paul Zimbler today faced US legend Doyle Bronson in the first contest of his gruelling 80 hour Heads Up Guinness World Record Attempt. Taking place at the World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair, the unique World Record attempt is being staged in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation and Sparks children’s charity and aims to raise over £50,000.
Playing at the Casino at the Empire, Paul will take on a staggering 200 players continuously over three days and will go head to head with members of the public and a range of celebrities and high profile poker pros including Neil Channing, Jesse May, Devilfish, Vicky Coren, The Hendon Mob, Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi, John Tabatabai, Roberto Romanello, Michael Greco and Teddy Sheringham.
Paul Zimbler commented: “While my main motivation is to raise as much money for charity as possible, it will be great to take on some of the biggest names in world poker on the way to establishing a new Guinness World Record.”
Monitoring Zimbler’s health during his marathon record attempt, Betfair Poker has enlisted the support of St John’s Ambulance who will be on hand to check his pulse and carry out regular checks to ensure he stays in record breaking shape.
Poker players and supporters wishing to get involved in the action or show their support should visit Justgiving to make a donation and help Paul Zimbler reach his target of £50,000.
