Play Spot The Ball Online

Spot The Ball was a popular competition mechanic back in the 70s and 80s. A competition often featured in the sports section of local newspaper or accompanied The Pools. To take part you needed to mark small x's on the picture with the aim of getting the centre of your small x closest to the ajudged location of the ball. In our view these kind of competitions are all about skill and judgement - or just good old luck. If there was a definitive approach to them then it'd be much easier to win the jackpot. The issue is that the location of where the ball is judged to be is a long standing argument. Usually a selection of experts will decide where the ball should be in a picture. This isn't always the same spot as to where the ball actually is (or where it was removed from). This means that searching for the image online to see where the ball was doesn't always reap the expected rewards.

The Football Pools Daily Game

Each day you can play Spot The Ball at The Football Pools. Use your skill and judgement to select where you think the ball should be on the football photo. It costs 20p a cross but you must play at least £1. There's a £500 top prize if you get the centre of the ball. In addition there's £50 for the nearest to the ball, £25 for second nearest and 15 x £1 prizes. These prizes increase on a Saturday and include a £1000 jackpot. Note that the top prize is only awarded if a selected pixel is at the centre of the ball. You can play coupons up to a week in advance. However we couldn't see any previous results on The Football Pools. Although this doesn't help with future entries it does give you an idea of where judges are placing the ball.
