Barbara Windsor has been crowned Jackpotjoy's Queen of Bingo. The coronation of Babs, minutes after she'd departed from Albert Square, was a grand affair and is the start of a number of TV ads that will feature the Eastenders and Carry On star. JPJ believe that most people in the UK will see their adverts over 20 times in the coming weeks, but are they memorable?
Our first thoughts were that the advert was all very much Carry On Henry, but without Sid James. Babs' legendary giggle is well recognisable amongst the song and dialogue.
We're not too sure about "Oi Oi Oi Jackpotjoy" and the song "Eyes down for the majesty, bingo queen so posh, giggling with serenity, dishing out the dosh" isn't as catchy as other bingo tunes.
Babs is going to be accompanied by Jack and Joy during the series of adverts. Jack resembles Daniel Day Lewis' character in Gangs of New York and we'd rather see less of him and more of the poodle that appears in the online ads!
All in all though these are very much colourful and fun adverts and should do well. The fact that JPJ have Barbara Windsor endorsing them minutes after departing Albert Square can only be a positive. Keep an eye out for the next ads in the series!
