One of the biggest changes in the bingo world this year has come in the TV advertising department. There seems to be fewer ads and the ones that do appear tend to be rehashes of previous incarnations. If it's not totally new then it's along the same theme as is the case with the new TV advert from Tombola! How we long for the days of the dancing cactus to return!
Tombola's latest advert is designed to promote their Pulse game - the fast way to play bingo on the move via mobile or online. The advert features actual players enjoying time chatting together, playing cricket and occasionally checking their mobiles where they're no doubt playing Pulse.
The advert is safe and it's great that the players are involved. This shows the sense of community at Tombola as well as the fact that there are great games to enjoy too. However it's a bit too familiar for our liking - perhaps because we're now so used to seeing this kind of thing from Tombola. Mind you it's a winning formula and you're never going to see them with dancing foxes, dogs or succulents!
However it would be great to see them do something a little bit edgy. The Pulse game features an ever increasing heartbeat which lends itself to a number of situations. For example a player could be watching a horror movie and the heart beating gets faster and faster as there's peril on screen. But the heart beating is because they're actually playing Pulse. What do you think? A better idea?
Anyway at least Tombola are out there on the small screen with something new(ish). Foxy are sticking with their pier dancing and Gala are still Galalala-ing. The rest seem to have decided to save their pennies - maybe for a rush of new Christmas themed bingo ads? We can only hope!!
