Iceland Bingo have made a welcome return to the small screen as they promote their £15,000 Holiday Prize game with a new advertising campaign. However if you're expecting to see the return of the two forlorn ducks walking down the high street again then you're in for a disappointment. This new ad is very low key!
The new Join Iceland Bingo TV advert is a cartoon feature which basically explains what's on offer at the site. We're told that by playing you get more for your money and that nearly £4million is won every month. There are games to suit everyone and these start from as little as 1p.
The voice over continues to explain that their are Iceland gift vouchers to be won daily and that over Easter you'll have the chance to win hot holidays in their £15,000 prize game. Finally we're told that you can play at Iceland Bingo anywhere via mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
This no frills affair may not be to everyone's taste. There's no A List Celebrity popping out of a freezer, no big gimmicky dance moves and no shots of bingo players doing something in real life. It's a far cry from the 2013 advert which featured the aforementioned two little ducks.
The reason for the no frills advert is probably down to compliance. Restrictions on TV ads have become much much tighter and we suspect Iceland Bingo have tailored this campaign to accommodate such restrictions. For example there's no mention of welcome offers or bonuses so we believe allows them to show the ad to a daytime audience!
Unfortunately no frills also means less standout and this is what Iceland Bingo have achieved. The biggest part of the advert - the £15,000 holiday - could have been used to grab our attention from the start but frustratingly it's tucked away near the end - almost as an afterthought.
Mind you, if you do want to play for the holiday vouchers then make sure you have your tickets as the game plays on Easter Monday!
