Souls Super Bingo In The Sun

We're not too shy when it comes to commenting about the quality of TV bingo adverts but have things improved from the 80s? Back then newspaper bingo was all the rage but it's quite hard to find footage of actual campaigns. However the one below is a recent addition to Youtube - it's an Aussie ad promoting Souls Super Bingo in The Sun.
The advert features a guy - who may be called Peter Clark - doing a little rap about playing Souls Super Bingo in The Sun. We're treated to such delights as "Now it's here, the game to cheer", "you can play every day" and "grab you card, join the fun, check your numbers in the sun". The actor involved appears as a postie, high court judge and a construction worker.
We actually quite liked the little tune and found it to be quite catchy. But it just goes to show that there's relatively little difference between the bingo ads of old and those of today. Yes things are all a little bit more sophisticated but the ads are designed to grab your attention.
Sadly we've not been able to find out whether the guy in the advert is called Peter Clark or whether he was famous in his day. It'd be quite interesting to know whether this was in fact a "celebrity endorsement" - perhaps a forerunner to the likes of Mel B and Vic Reeves.
As ever we'll keep an eye out for more old style TV ads and dont' forget you can check our reviews of the more modern equivalents.
