Bingola Closes Whilst Iceland Freezes Out Affiliates

Since last year's shake up with regards to bingo bonuses due to changes in taxation and the fallout following concerns over child appealing imagery, the online bingo industry has become a bit stagnant. New sites, which were once rolled out at an incredible rate, are now a rarity. Even established brands, Mecca aside, have stepped back from the spotlight.
Unsurprisingly, industry changes creates casualties and that means sites closing or changing tack. This week, two sites have decided to take decisive action. Bingola, one of a number of sites in the Costa stable, has announced it's closure. Meanwhile, Iceland Bingo has decided to end it's affiliate relationships - at least through it's current partner at Quick Think Affiliates.
Bingola have announced that as of the 28th February 2018 that they will be closing. Players can still access the site and there are contact details if support is required. If you have money in your Bingola account then we strongly advise that you withdraw it or get in touch with the site if there are any issues.
Will More Follow Bingola?
Although Bingola is closing, players are pointed to other sites in the group. These include Costa, City and Sing. However we do wonder whether further sites from this stable will follow Bingola into the closed section?
Bingola launched in September 2014 and offered a no deposit bonus to new players - that was removed in 2017 and since then the brand has offered very little that's new or exclusive. The same can be said for other brands - Dino, Giant, Sparkly, Frozen, Farmyard and Crocodile for us all have question marks over them with regards to their future.
Goodbye Little Big
By the way Bingola isn't the only brand using the Dragonfish platform to shut up shop. The Cashcade Network have recently made changes to their roster and opted to close down the likes of Kiss My Bingo, Graces Bingo and Little Big Bingo. These brands now all redirect to Think.
We're actually not surprised by these closures, despite all the sites getting makeovers during 2017. None of them received much love or attention from Cashcade/Bwin and none offered anything exclusive or different from bigger sister brands at Cheeky or Foxy.
Iceland Bingo Leave Affiliates Cold
Another Dragonfish powered site has also decided to make a few changes. Iceland Bingo has decided to close it's affiliate program powered through Quick Think Affiliates as of the 28th February. As far as we're aware it's not the end of the brand and this move won't effect players.
We do wonder whether this move will have an impact on Iceland Bingo in the future. Dumping affiliates is becoming a worrying trend of late (Foxy, Bingo Hollywood, Sky). Compliance is the usual line for such a move although from an affiliate point of view it comes across more as a cost cutting exercise.
Sadly we don't expect the above closures and affiliate changes to be the last of 2018. We anticipate that smaller brands will opt for one of the two paths, whilst bigger brands will assess whether to follow in the footsteps of Foxy and Sky. Tough times lie ahead.
