Play Better Odds Bingo - 50 Ball Bingo

Published On 7th November 2023

Have you stopped enjoying playing online bingo? Are you getting fed up with seeing the same roomies winning? Do you think that games are heavily in favour of players who purchase the most tickets? If yes then Mecca Bingo might well have the answer for you. Back in 2018 they introduced a brand new room to their site. It's called BOB and that stands for Better Odds Bingo. It's a 50 ball game that's described as fair and square game because everyone has the same chance of winning as all players hold the same number of tickets. Even better the number of players per room is limited to just 25 so there's no overcrowding.

Best Odds Bingo at Mecca Bingo

  • Type Of Game: 50 Ball Bingo
  • Cost: 50p (10 x 5p tickets)
  • Open: 24/7
  • Jackpots: A Few Extra BOB & Uncle BOB
  • Extras: Even Steven Games
  • Special Features: Maximum 25 players per room

When you login to Mecca Bingo and head to BOB you'll be accepted in the next available room. There can be multiple BOBs in play due to the 25 maximum player limit. The game room itself isn't particular spectacular but it's functional and typical in Virtue Fusion design. A series of colurful tickets are laid out on a pink pastel background whilst the game details can be found at the top of the page and the purchasing options at the foot. To get involved with BOB you simply need to purchase tickets for the game. You can't buy any more or less than 10 tickets which at 5p each means that each round of BOB is going to cost you 50p. We think that's OK for a few games, but with new 50 ball games starting every few minutes then it can quickly become costly and not quite "affordable" as Mecca Bingo describe the concept.

How To Play Best Odds Bingo

Playing BOB is exactly like any normal bingo game with the aim of the game to complete a full house on your ticket. The bingo ticket comprises of 10 numbers in two lines of five and there are prizes for completing one line and the full house. Because BOB is a 50 ball game the rounds are completed very quickly. One thing we do like are the bingo card graphics. Numbers are crossed offed with a thumbs up emoji whilst a bigger hand counts down 3TG, 2TG and 1TG on the right. There's no soundtrack accompanying the game, just a thuddy clinky noise when each ball is drawn. Winners are congratulated by a bingo caller who's voice is perfect for late night radio. This is actually the Bingo Chill caller and you can change this to other options via the little cog at the top right of the bingo room should you prefer something a bit more lively. A chat room is available for BOB so you can keep in touch with fellow roomies.

A Few Extra BOB

As well as the base game prizes, BOB also boasts a couple of additional jackpots. A Few Extra BOB is a fixed jackpot of £20 that is awarded if you call house in 20 calls or less. However call house in 16 calls or less and you pick up the BOB's your uncle jackpot. This prize is a progressive one and starts at £100. At time of writing it was at £150 so we're presuming that it does get won. Like with all progressives though we would love to see some indication of when it was last won. Why so many gambling brands conceal this information is a mystery. Surely it can't be that difficult to put a line of code in the various rooms that simply says "progressive last won on such a such date and the value was this many pounds".

Our Verdict

So is BOB really Better Odds Bingo? Well, yes it is mainly because everyone has the same number of tickets. However, that's not a particular big innovation. Other sites have run Fair & Square, Multi-stake or Even Stevens games in the past which has meant every player has the same number of tickets in play. Limiting the room size to 25 is an interesting approach though and this is where the BOB concept is good. You only need to look in on Tombola, for example, and see that rooms can attract 100s of players, especially when a game is new, and that makes the chances of winning a lot tougher. One thing we would like to see with respect to BOB is a cheaper game option. The idea of BOB is great but it's harder to sell when it costs more to play than other games. Better Odds Bingo originally was an exclusive game at Mecca Bingo but you can now also play it at Kitty Bingo and Lucky Pants Bingo.
