Remaining Cozy Games Brands To Close Soon

Over the last 18 months or so we've seen multiple sites close on the old Cozy Games platform. These included Landmark, Gone, Harrys and even our own Snappy Bingo. These closures were sparked by the sale of Cozy to GVC and the move of Foxy to the revamped platform, now known as the GVC Network. Surprisingly a number of brands survived the initial cull but it looks like that they too now will close. We understand that all remaining non-GVC brands will be shut down by the end of July.
We are told that the following brands will definitely be closed by the end of July: Booty Bingo, Velvet Bingo, Mummies Bingo, New Look Bingo, Bubblegum Bingo and Lucky Puppy Bingo. At this time we have no information about Bingo Magix, Game Village, Girly Bingo, Gravy Train, Little Miss, Swanky and Wow but we suspect that they too will be leaving the platform. If all the above do close their doors then this will mean GVC have wiped out every former Cozy Games brand. This means that their focus will wholly be on developing their new GVC Network for Foxy, Cheeky, Coral and Ladbrokes.
More Platform Changes
It's not all bad news for online bingo players. We understand that the likes of Booty, Velvet and Mummies may well return. These brands are all owned by United, the company behind Moon and Robin Hood. According to reports these brands will be relaunched with new looks on the Dragonfish platform. Whether this move will invigorate the particular brands remains to be seen. The Dragonfish Network hasn't exactly excited us of late. Whilst the new look lobby is impressive the addition of Even Stevens Bingo was a bit of damp squib.
There may well be more movement with respect to bingo platforms as we head into the second half of 2020. Microgaming who power the bingo rooms at a handful of sites has announced that it's pulling out of the market. This means that sites such as Butlers Bingo, Bingo Diamond, Rosy Bingo, Dotty Bingo, Dream Bingo and 32Red Bingo may be needing new homes. It could be that this group of sites opt to add the Pragmatic Play bingo product and continue with Microgaming for casino and slots.
Less Choice For Players
Whilst the addition of Pragmatic Play Bingo on Butlers would be a sensible idea it would also mean player choices of software would become even more limited. The bingo rooms are used by brands on Nektan, Jumpman and more recently the former Bede Gaming sites such as Crown Bingo. On a positive note these combined rooms should mean more players, bigger prizes and better games. However should there be a problem or players decide they're not fans of the platform then bingo would be in trouble across a wide number of sites. It's a very precarious situation and puts pressure on Pragmatic Play to deliver.
That said it also puts pressure on brands and networks too and this is where the situation may work out better for players. If a large number of sites all offer the same bingo then how do you stand out from the crowd. Exclusive jackpots, special offers, welcome bonuses and possibly free games could all become useful tools to attract players from one platform to another. Players also need to delve deeper into the terms and conditions. For example much has been made of the relaunch of Mirror Bingo on Jumpman. But why sign up to play in bingo rooms that charge £2.50 to withdraw your winnings when another brand offers the same games but doesn't charge you?
