What Was The St Minver Bingo Network?

The St Minver Network used to be one of the most formidible collection of bingo brands. They were in fact the first network to host Gala Bingo! However, Gala upped sticks and that led to the creation of flagship brand, Chit Chat Bingo. Other sites soon joined them including big names such as Littlewoods, Castle Bingo, Love Bingo, Butlins, Woolworths, Metro, Yahoo. Bingojoy, a site that had it's own TV channel hosted by Brian Dowling was part of the group. There was even an Ann Summers Bingo! All sites on the St Minver Network had the same games, bingo rooms, schedules and monthly promotions with only a few making a real effort to offer players something unique each and every month. Free bingo games tended to be limited whilst progressive jackpots ran across all the sites.

Cheggers Goes Pop

Unfortunately, whilst other networks were on the up, St Minver suffered from a number of losses that hindered the group. Littlewoods (which then on to become Vernons) and Virgin Bingo changed platform whilst other brands including our favourite Cheggers Bingo also closed down. The addition of Daily Express Games, Daily Star Games and Bingozino should have been a boost to the group but sadly things didn't work out. Despite the loss of the heavyweight brands we always felt that St Minver were struggling to give players that extra oomph. Networks like Dragonfish and Virtue Fusion were just too strong in promotions terms. Perhaps it was no surprise in 2015 when the group were taken over by IGT. What was a surprise was IGT's decision to close the bingo product altogether in 2016 and focus on their slot brands.

Brands Live On

On reflection, St Minver should have been a powerhouse of a network. They had many big brands but managed to lose them all. The loss of Gala wasn't a setback as it resulted in Chit Chat, but the other brands struggled. That said it's not always the platform at fault. Daily Star and Daily Express have been on three different platforms and failed on all three. The closure of the network hasn't meant the end of all brands though! Whilst sadly Butlins have decided to close their site altogether, others tried their luck on other networks. Daily Express and Daily Star Games (now both closed) moved to Gaming Realms, whilst Chit Chat Bingo, Bingozino and Bid Bingo moved to the Dragonfish Network. Carlton Bingo opted to move to the Jumpman Bingo.
