Last month we told you about Appysnap, a mobile app that offers you the chance to win prizes by taking part in small and fun photo missions. This month they’ve teamed up with the good folks at Sharemyplaylists, the world’s best Spotify music sharing site, to giveaway music goodies. All you have to do is take part in their music themed photo missions.
For example, for the current mission you need to take a photo of 3 CDs that represent your “Best. Mixtape. Ever!”. It’s all quick and easy and a let’s face a little bit more fun than your average prize draw.
Appysnap though isn’t the only app you can download for the chance to win prizes. Today, for example, we’ve including a competition from The Harlequin Shopping Centre in Watford. If you download their app and complete your details then you’re in with a chance of winning an iPad 2.
By looking through the App Store for “prize” and “competition” we also managed to find a couple of other apps that might be of interest. Richer Sounds offer a free app that comes with a free scratchcard. Match three symbols and you win the prize – the downside is you need to go instore to make your claim.
Halloween may be over but the Hobgoblin app competition is still running. It ends on the 30th November. You just point the app towards a promotional item (bottle, pump clip, poster etc) and watch as the app comes to life – giving you the chance to win £5000 or 1 of 1000 prizes. The Wychwood site was down at time of writing, but we think you can also enter online.
The technology used by Hobgoblin is (we think) similar to that used by Blippar. Mobile Augmented Reality Advertising is what they do – and with their app you can find all sorts of weird and wonderful extras in various places. It’s also being used for competitions including the current Escape The Map one from Mercedes Benz. You’ll also find a competition on bottles of Heinz Ketchup. Check out the Blippar Facebook page or this Youtube video to find out more.
So do keep an eye out on new mobile apps as they could be a new source of prizes for you. However, all these technological advancements beg the question – will competitions through mobile phone apps be the big thing for 2012?
Competitions via iPhone and Android apps may well become more prevalent – especially as retailers and brands embrace new ways to communicate with consumers, get data about customers and ultimately entice them into a store to make a purchase. Blippar sounds intriguing, but we can envisage compers “blipping” every bottle of Heinz Ketchup in their local supermarket in search of a winning bottle – so that’ll be interesting!
By the way… if you are on a mobile don’t forget you can login to Loquax via iLoquax.
