Loquax To Launch Brand New Comping Magazine

Posted on: April 1st, 2012 by Jason 39 Comments

After 14 years of providing an online competition service, Loquax is pleased to announce a new string to our competition bow. We’ve looked at the competition magazines that are out there and have decided that it’s time for something new. So it’s a big Loquax welcome to our brand new magazine called Simply Compers from Loquax.

April Fool's Day!!!!

Simply Compers from Loquax aims to provide compers with a quality comping publication – so you can take your favourite site with you where ever you are. There will be a printed version as well as a digital version – subscribers will be able to access both of them – and for no additional cost either.

Our magazine will be full of the latest online competitions and offline promotions. We’ll be offering hints and tips about competitions as well as featuring winners and regular articles on the comping world. Stuck for answers? We’ve got that sorted too as for the first time a Loquax service will provide solutions to those tricky questions – A, B or C will soon be our speciality.

There will be exclusive competitions for subscribers too. We’ve even brought in a comping expert, Megan Itallup, to offer her unique style of advice and commentary. Megan has been comping for over 3 months and has won over £25.14 of prizes including a free Knork and plate from Chicago Town! Her first article will be about “how to scoop the big prizes” – you won’t want to miss it!

What’s The Cost?

Unfortunately, we will have to charge for the magazine! We expect a subscription to cost at least £75 a year, but do look out for special offers. However, if you pay us a one off free of £250 plus just £72 a year we’ll enroll you into our “Friends Of Online Loquax Society” where you’ll get access to the site, the magazine and a personally signed photo of Jason & Kirsty. Unmissable!

We’ll be bringing you news about subscribing very soon, but are happy to announce that there will be discounts for regular Loquax users. If you’ve been a forum user then we you’ll be able to subscribe for at least £1 less than other subscribers.

But can’t I get all this for free!!

We appreciate you might be thinking that our new magazine will duplicate what’s already on offer on Loquax for free, but it won’t. There will be absolutely no cross over between the online service and the competitions listed in our magazine! That’s guaranteed!

Read this far? Excited by our new magazine? Wanting to subscribe? Check the date!

Excellent Jason, glad you are thinking of ways to expand your empire! Will you be dressed up as ducks in the signed photo? (Or wearing something a bit more alternative;)

  • sophsam

Hmmm wonder what today’s date is

  • discodolly

Excellent idea, but very expensive as a one off payment especially when theres little extra cash in the pot lately. I know i would rather have the option to purchase it monthly & not by direct debit, another competition mag does it that way & its off putting, i’d rather purchase it with my bank card or paypal, as & when i have the spare cash. Any idea of what it’d cost monthly?

  • discodolly

    April fool????? lol

  • zolakins

Lol – it took me a few minutes, with a coffe and some sugar puffs……. but I got there in the end. ;o)

  • c2lass

    What a “foolish” decision 🙂

  • obelist

Worth the money for the signed photo 🙂

  • discodolly

Hahaha…i’m awake now & re -read it…duhhhhhhhhhh. The little grey cells are now working after a very strong coffee hahaha !!!!!!!!!

  • suejok

Realised as soon as I got to Megan Itallup – very good. Wonder how many will try to apply?

  • mammalman

I’m appalled at this decision. After being free for so long you are now charging this outrageous subscription of £72+ per year. I will be writing to my MP and BBC Watchdog about this. I think Loquax fans should also start an online petition to try and make Jason change his mind. To raise funds I intend running a pay competition to win the only existing copy of my book “Gullible: why is it not in the dictionary?”. Tickets are £10 and a video on how to join the campaign is here http://youtu.be/oHg5SJYRHA0. We must not just give in and roll over.

  • juanginge

    Ok so I’m a plonker.

  • Polarbear

Ok i know this is an april fools prank, but its well past mid-day infact almost midnight lol- but its not actually a bad idea, i’d love to be able to get a loquax magazine to sit on the sofa and read and rest my eyes from a computer screen, there could be all sorts of useful info put in it such as slogan building advice, off line competitions so you can write out your postcards etc from your ‘comfy chair’ instead of looking on screen for them- which often tires my ever getting older eyes- as it is i dont enter postcard comps and with the rising prices of stamps they might even start to become extinct, but i still like the idea of a loquax mag even if it was only bi-monthly- although i doubt it would ever happen due to start up costs being so high, but its not such a daft idea if only….

well doneJason, how many people signrd up?

  • Thanks for all the comments, sadly not many people wanted to join “Friends Of Online Loquax Society” (geddit.. FOOLS) so Megan Itallup has been fired and sent off to concentrate on adding to her prize haul.

Would we ever do a magazine? No, no, no way and never! (That’d be a no then).

  • Graeme Johnson

Nice one guys – I did think that £250 for a signed pic of you two was a tad on the steep side!

ah ah April’s fool, but loved it 🙂
