Finding Competitions & Prizes On Twitter

Posted on: February 23rd, 2009 by Jason

Earlier in the year we told you how you could follow Loquax on Twitter. Since then the number of people, including celebrities and brands, who use the micro blogging social network has increased. We’ve also spotted that, occasionally, there are competitions and giveaways. They tend to be short notice and can attract few entries (meaning more chances to win).

Follow Loquax on Twitter

But how do you find these prizes?

There’s no hard and fast definitive answer! You can do searches on prize draws and competition but these throw up various results and aren’t always helpful. Therefore the best solution is just follow celebs and brands and keep an eye on their tweets!

For example Phillip Schofield has given away tshirts as has Scott Mills and Bombardier Beer. Snackajacks offered tickets to the premiere of Confessions of a Shopaholic, Absolute Radio were giving away tickets for Glasvegas and Prezzybox had 20 Mini Winnies up for grabs.

On top of that Bombardier Beer giveaway free beer every month to a lucky Twitter follower and Twitter legend Stephen Fry ran a remarkable little competition whereby to enter you had to create a tweet that included 50 L’s! You can see the results of the competition (and the amazing creativity of the winners) on Stephen Fry’s blog.

If there are any more celebs or brands who offer prizes via Twitter then let us know!

These competitons tend to have very short closing dates, or are offered to first to reply, or even for the nth person to follow them! Remember too that you’re often competing against other twitter members, who perhaps wouldn’t normally enter competitions.

However, it’s worth keeping an eye out for giveaways, freebies and prizes via Twitter – and don’t forget to follow us as we’ll try and let our twitter followers know of anything we see.
