New kids on the block, PlayOJO Casino, have launched their first TV campaign. Their aim is to get the message out far and wide that they're a new kind of site where there's money back on every bet and no wagering requirements on bonus money. This message is conveyed through humour as PlayOJO boast that they're not a bunch of Clints!
The PlayOJO Casino advert action takes place in the brand's office. A man, who we later discovered is called Clint, is heard shouting that "this is no way to run an online casino". At that point Clint announces he quits, throws down his pen and staples a toy dog to the wall.
It's noticeable that Clint is the oldest person in the office. A subtle reference to how things were done in the old days of online casino versus how the new young upstarts intend to do things! Clint isn't impressed with his colleagues as they offer money to the players - win or lose.
The ad concludes with the "We're not a bunch of Clints" and an invitation to play at PlayOJO. There is a slightly longer version of the ad above which features black and white cutaways of Clint being angry. In our view it's a tad more arty but adds nothing to the overall message.
This is a good introduction advert from PlayOJO and we do like the Clint character - even though we're probably not meant to. However we do wonder whether viewers will understand that PlayOJO is considerably different to other casinos in terms of giving money back and it's no wagering terms?
For us that message doesn't come across well. Yes we can see that PlayOJO say they're better than others but we're not sure why. Clint's last insult of "Muppets" also stands out - and that's not the message PlayOJO are after. On the flipside we think the humour in the ad may pique interest in the casino and encourage players to seek out the site.
