Win A House In Rome

Of all the competitions that completed in 2020 Visit Central Italy wasn't one we expected to work. However it did manage to sell 7000 tickets at 50 Euros a piece and create a property winner. They are therfore doing it again but this time at a cheaper price. Tickets for what looks to be the first of a number of 2021 competitions will cost just $10 which isn't bad when you consider the prize. A $10 ticket could win you an apartment close to the historic Colosseum in Rome - that does sound pretty cool. We think that it would make a perfect rental property when we can all get back to travelling again.

About The Property

Details about the property are quite limited. What we do know is that it has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, balconies and views of the Colosseum. The property is fully furnished although we had to find that out via the Facebook page rather than the competition page. There are no details with respect to service charges but we'd assume that an apartment building in central Rome might incur a few expenses? We have no idea about the valuation of the property which would be ideal for giving us an idea of the number of tickets that will need to be sold. On a positive note we do know that notary and transfer fees are included!

How To Enter The Competition

To enter the competition you need to purchase a ticket and leave an answer to the question "what year did Emperor Constantine die" in the notes section. The notes section can be found when you click through to the checkout. In truth this is a really poor way of hosting a competition. In the previous Visit Central Italy competition there was a free entry route option. However we can't locate one this time round and therefore can only assume that it's been removed. Furthermore this competition isn't offering any donations to charity.

Unknown Ticket Sales

Usually at this point we mention how many tickets need to be sold. However the promoters, Visit Central Italy Ltd, seem to have omitted this important detail. The competition is expected to run for at least a year or until all tickets are sold. If insufficient tickets are sold then the winners will receive a cash prize. This will be determined after the deduction of any expenses and marketing fees but the promoters fail to say how much this could be. As in their previous competition we'd like this to be better outlined.

Our Verdict

We were surprised that the last competition completed but it just goes to show that these things are hard to predict. The prize on offer is pretty decent and offers rental potential. It'd be good if these details were included on the site. The process to buy tickets still seems clunky but we like the lower price. That said there are a lot of details missing including ticket sale targets and how much is paid out as a cash alternative if the competition fails. Will Visit Central Italy pull off another surprise property winner with this one? We'll find out in 12 months time.

October 2021: Unfortunately due to ongoing concerns about this platform we've removed our links to all Visit Central Italy contests.
