Some months you get new bingo sites that really make you sit up and want to take a look. And then there's August 2010. Despite a flurry of new bingo site activity over recent months, this month's collection is nothing more than "been there done that".

Many bingo observers are questioning whether there are too many sites and whether consolidation will be the way forward. There's another good reason why consolidation may be the way to go - bingo site names. Are the names of bingo sites just getting sillier and sillier?

This month for example we have Bingo Me Happy hoping to make an impact on the Globalcom network. They join our own Loquax Bingo, Prize Bingo and Bingo House in offering 1 of free bingo for new players and the usual jackpots and games. The site is full of smiley faces that remind us of Acid House parties from the 90s!

Joining Bingo Me Happy as a new site on the Globalcom network is the slightly more absurdly named Up Your Bingo. Intriguingly Up Your Bingo said "Up Yours" to affiliates so they won't be getting much traffic from bingo sites. And as they don't have different to Loquax Bingo you may as well play there!

Another site taking the no affiliate route is yet another daft name. Tryst Bingo, named after a love tryst or relationship, are on the Cashcade network and offers nothing that you won't find on the likes of Kiss My Bingo (another odd name). In fact you'll still find the HD Samsung TV promotion that was on this network's sites for The World Cup in July! Not good is it?

However, we can't leave you with this bingo name insanity and thankfully we can end with a sensible name. Carlton Bingo are the latest bingo hall to come online and they've opted to use Virtue Fusion as their platform. Sadly that's all they've done as there's no opening promotions, prizes, deposit bonus deals or free bingo.

Bingo people might well want mergers and be worried there are too many bingo sites. However, if all people are getting is "more of the same" then the established sites won't ever need to worry.
