Help To Boost Bingo & Sign The Petition

Whilst you may enjoy playing bingo what you might not know is that the game gets a bit of a raw deal in the old tax department. Most other gambling pursuits are taxed at 15% but bingo is taxed at 20%. In addition Bingo Halls are unable to reclaim VAT on the costs of investment and refurbishment, which further worsens the total tax burden.
Other leisure businesses, such as restaurants/cafes, can reclaim VAT and therefore have a competitive advantage. Yet The Government are happy to allow this imbalance to continue, despite it crippling the bingo industry. It's time to make them see sense and this is where Boost Bingo comes into the equation. Over at Boost Bingo, The Bingo Association is "campaigning on behalf of clubs, customers and operators to reduce the tax burden on a social activity that is at the heart of British culture and local communities across Great Britain". Their media campaign has seen coverage on Sky News, local media and online - but they still need you to get involved.
Boost Bingo have set up an online petition but disappointingly just over 3200 supporters have signed it. A tax change from 20% to 15% would result in substantial investment in new premises, modernisation and jobs - but without it then it's possible that bingo halls will be lost.
