The big bingo news of the last couple of weeks is that Bingo Godz has been sold by Gaming Realms. The new site launched a couple of years ago in a blaze of glory and along the way even recruited Helen Flanagan to add a touch of glamour. However this wasn't enough to help it establish itself in the hearts of players.

Bingo Godz and another site, Castle Jackpot, will be sold to European Domain Management who operate a number of other brands including Crown Bingo and Bingo Stars. We expect that they will want to continue with the 'Godz brand although we wonder whether the format will be the same.

Given that Gaming Intelligence are reporting a 2.1million loss for September 2013 to 2014 it wouldn't be a surprise to see some changes. Whilst the premise of Bingo Godz was exciting we don't think players really bought into the whole 'collecting gods' social aspect of the site. The platform was also beset with issues and it's direction confusing.

Whilst we liked the idea of the extra rooms opening in different worlds, nothing really moved that fast in the Bingo Godz arena and it got stuck with just three areas - Greek, Eastern and Egyptian. The main promotions were the no deposit bonus for new players or the daily freebies or reloads. Occasionally there would be a slots tournament but we can't recall any major prize giveaways.

The demise of the Godz is a big blow for online bingo as it means yet another new platform has struggled to establish traction. It just goes to show that TV campaigns, big budgets, no deposit bonuses and celebrity endorsements don't always result in success.

So what now for Bingo Godz? Player wise we don't think that they'll be any immediate or obvious changes at Bingo Godz. For us though it's the end of the line as the new owners don't work with affiliates. That doesn't mean we won't be keeping an eye on what's happening at the brand. If there are any exciting changes then we'll let you know.
