If you drop in to Wink Bingo this week you'll find a new addition to the site. It's called the Winkly Magazine and this new online section aims to offer readers content created from the "knowledge and insights from one million players". Some might say that's usually called a blog so what exactly is Winkly all about?
You can find Winkly via it's own tab at Wink Bingo. There are three main sections: Winkipedia, Bingo Insights and In The Know. To be honest we felt that the three sections were pretty much offering one and same thing. At time of writing Winkipedia for example contained an article on bingo rooms whilst In The Know offered explanations on wagering and online bingo!
Buy-In Or Deposit?
Bingo Insights sounds interesting and may have potential - but for now we have to make do with a nice colourful article about playing with a budget of £10, £20 and £30. Whilst we're pretty sure there's a good sentiment behind this article we do wonder how they can start the tenner section with "£10 is often the minimum buy-in for most bingo games". This is incorrect! £10 is often the minimum deposit you can do - you can play online games for as little as 1p a ticket!
We also have to question the wisdom of suggesting to budget players "not to play jackpots". Yes those tickets can be expensive, but a good budget player will seek out games where there's a good prize and value for money. For example you can play some of the daily bingo jackpots for 5p and 10p a ticket. Essentially budgeting your spend should simply be filed under "horses for courses" because ultimately it's a player decision.
Wink Bingo Or 888 Ladies
As we read on about budgeting it's evident that "Winkly" may well be a regurgitation of old articles. Under the £30 segment we're told "despite the fact that 888 Ladies may allow you to play a certain number of tickets" - hang on aren't we meant to be on Wink Bingo? These little oversights suggest that the articles aren't being checked before publication. If 888 can't be bothered to read their articles then why should the bingo players?
Winkly is by no means a lost cause - in fact we think it's a good idea. A number of bingo brands have blogs and coincidentally a similar number have very bad blogs! We'd even suggest that most are written for Google's benefit rather than those of the player (admittedly you can argue about that with most online content).
A Nod To Ideas For Winkly
However we'd like to see Winkly use that "knowledge and insights from one million players". We'd like to see content about the players - for example how the winners of their Peter Andre gig got on. We don't need another billion pages on how to play. Easy content is often not unique content - and Wink plus everyone else often overlook the obvious uniqueness that's available to them in favour of chasing search engine positions.
