Darline Is Favourite For UK Eurovision Glory
Added On 24th February 2016
There's a very important vote coming up in The UK and we're not talking about the EU Referendum. On Friday 26th February six acts will battle it out to represent The UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest. This is the first time for a few years that the public have been given the opportunity to decide what banality we send to take on the might of Europe's music scene.
The six acts that will fight it out for their moment of fame on the 14th May are:
- Darline (Until Tomorrow)
- Bianca (Shine A Little Light)
- Karl William Lund (Miracle)
- Joe and Jake (You're Not Alone)
- Dulcima (When You Go)
- Matthew James (A Better Man)
Darline is the Song For Europe favourite at 5/4 with Coral. Darline is in fact a duo of Abby Inez & Cára Beard. They describe themselves as a country/pop duo and will be singing Until Tomorrow. It's a decent enough tune but seems a bit too nice to be Eurovision. We actually think Bianca, who's second favourite at 11/4, has the more appropriate song. Shine A Little Light is catchy and let's not forget the last time The UK won the contest it was with the similarly titled Love Shine A Light.
For a good bet we'd suggest Karl William Lund's Miracle which is at 4/1 with Coral. Karl has been touted as the bookie's favorite at least by his local paper. His self penned song is decent enough and his good looks may well appeal to the type of people who like voting for these kind of things. A similar accusation could be leveled at 9/2 shots Joe and Jake - a young male duo who will be hoping to be selected with their tune You're Not Alone.
The outsiders are Dulcima, a male and female duo who are singing When You Go. They are 10/1 for the win whilst Matthew James, who looks like he should be in a classical group like Il Divo is at 33/1 with A Better Man. Unfortunately for Matthew, a better man will most certainly beat him in this particular contest.
As usual we're going to stick our necks out and pick a winner - and we're plumping for Karl William Lund. A decent song, decent looking singer and a good price at 4/1. He'll have the backing of Merseyside too.
