Lottery Betting At William Hill
Article Updated On 9th June 2020
It's been a while since we looked at lottery betting at William Hill. In the past bookmaker competitors such as Ladbrokes and Coral have been ahead with respect to betting on lotto markets. However over the last year or so things have switched around. Coral and Ladbrokes seemed to have moved away from the sector whilst William Hill have added more options. In 2016 you could only wager on six markets including 49s, Irish Lotto and New York Lotto. Now you can bet on the results of the Australian, French, German and even Polish games.
To bet on Lotteries at William Hill you need visit the sportsbook section. Locate under Lotteries under the various markets available and click through to the lotto section. Once there you'll find a number of game options including those mentioned above plus Daily Millions and Canadian Lotto. Only the Irish Lotto and New York Lotto offer you the chance to wager on the results including the bonus ball. When you've chosen the market you wish to bet on you're then taken to a numbers selection page.
As with other bookies you can pick your own numbers or try a lucky dip to get a random selection. Note that the lucky dip option always generates 5 numbers so if you wish to bet on less numbers simply remove them after hitting the random option. You can select up to 8 lines of up to 5 numbers and you can also choose how many draws that you'd like to play. Again these options are limiting as you can't define whether you wish to only play a Saturday draw for eight weeks but not a Wednesday one.
Best Lotto Odds?
With respect to fixed odds lottery betting it is advisable to shop around a little just to see whether you can get a slightly better offer. In general the odds for matching 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 balls in any given game now tends to be similar across all bookies. Occasionally you might get slightly better or worse odds but in our view not sufficient variation to drop your favourite bookie. As far as we're aware William Hill are currently the only bookmaker that allows wagering on the results of the Polish lottery!
William Hill still don't host lottery results. Instead they offer links to official sites for you to visit. We suspect this saves them having to keep data up to date. However there is an extensive rules section which gives information about each draw. Did you know that the maximum payout is £1 Million on any one 49s or Irish Lotto draw. However it's just £250,000 on the New York Lotto, Polish Lottery, French Lottery, German Lottery, Canadian Lottery, Australian Lottery and Daily Millions Lottery draw.
As of June 2020 some lottery markets, most notably the Spanish Lottery and 49s, are not available at William Hill. Both games were suspended due to the health crisis and it's not known when draws will resume. That said only 49s are referenced in the rules at William Hill so if you want to wager on the Spanish results in future you may have to go elsewhere. We'll update this information when the draws resume.
When we first looked at lottery result betting at William Hill we concluded that it "doesn't seem to be a major market". At that time they had just three options to choose from and limited features. It's safe to say that the number of options have improved considerably and it's good to see the Canadian Lottery and Polish Lottery games included. The betting slip functionality could be better. Lucky Dip buttons for 3, 4 or 5 numbers would be useful as would options to select the draws you wish to bet on.
