5ive & The Chuckle Brothers Are Gonna Bingo

Published On 27th March 2018

Bingo often has a reputation of being an old people's game. Most certainly before it became popular online, the very name would conjure up images of Butlins and an older generation getting ready to get their eyes down for a full house. However there's always a constant move to encourage new blood to bingo.

Sun Bingo have taken steps to connect with a younger audience through their new advertising campaign. They've brought in comedian Jayde Adams and come up with the grime inspired musical number, Are You Gonna Bingo? How it works out for them remains to be seen, but the ad does "age" efforts from other brands.

Five Will Make You Get Down

To be honest, we're not sure if online bingo does suffer from just appealing to the older generation. Most certainly bingo clubs do but efforts are being made to change that. For example, boyband 5ive will be playing at Mecca Bingo in Hartlepool at 8pm on April 7th. Tickets for the event are on sale now and cost just £10.

Note that 5ive is infact 3hree because the current line up only includes 3 members of the original five. Only Ritchie Neville, Sean Conlon and Scott Robinson will be taking to the stage. Anyway, it should be a great night and a good excuse for fans of the band to enjoy a few tunes and play some bingo too.

To Me! To You!

They'll be a few tunes and some bingo too in Cardiff on the 7th May. The Bingo Lingo event returns for another outing and promises a bingo/rave experience. Take a look at the video below to see just what to expect. It's not your usual Gala or Mecca Bingo night, that's for sure. Bingo Lingo club night participants are encouraged to dance, clap and heckle. However don't get too excited because players who jump on the tables will be removed!

Hosting the Bingo Lingo Cardiff event are yet more chart superstars! However, the hosts are perhaps more well known for their TV work. The Chuckle Brothers, who hit 92 in the charts with Tinchy Stryder, will be overseeing proceedings at Bingo Lingo - plus they'll be calling out the numbers. This will be Paul & Barry's second Lingo event - their first was in Bristol in February - and it promises to be a lot of fun.

Note that table tickets for the Cardiff event have already sold out, but you can still purchase standard entry tickets online. We're not quite sure what you get for your £9 entry as we can't find full details of the itinerary, games and prizes. Of the two events we'd definitely choose The Chuckles over 5ive!

If you do go to the 5ive or Chuckle Brothers' Bingo Lingo event then do let us know how it went. Do you think these kind of events encourage younger people to enjoy bingo? And do clubs like Mecca and Gala need to do more to attract a new generation of player?
