Bgo.com have been without a celebrity endorsement since the sad passing of "The Boss", Verne Troyer. However, they've not waited too long to redress the balance and have turned to a former ambassador. Socialite, Paris Hilton, has rejoined Bgo.com for a second stint and becomes the face of the popular online casino.
In a carefully crafted by bgo.com statement, Hilton says "You heard it right. I've returned to bgo to bring you more fun games, more fabulous promotions and more free spins. In fact, to give you a taste of what's in store, as soon as you make your first deposit, I'll give you 100 free spins to play a selection of the hottest games".
"A New Low In Betting Advertising"
Quite rightly, Bgo.com do not refer Hilton as "The Boss". We'd like that position to be retired as a mark of respect to Troyer. However, how bgo.com will address his departure and the arrival of Hilton remains to be seen. At the moment images of Paris Hilton now fill Bgo.com. We expect to see new adverts starring the socialite but it'll be interesting to see if they have a nod to "The Boss".
The return of Paris Hilton is a bit of a surprise. In her first stint as amnbassador, The Guardian described her advert as "a new low in betting advertising". To be fair the reference is towards the pink sexism that prevails in the piece. However, ironically, in that advert Paris has become the new boss of Bgo.com much to the horror of Verne Troyer. It turns out to be a bad dream... but even bad dreams can become reality.
A Safer Option Than Bilzerian
When Hilton was first signed up by Bgo.com it was to help boost the brand's female audience. We wonder whether that is the case here? Or have Bgo.com opted for the 'Foxy' approach and have assumed that a pretty face - such as Heather Locklear - will make a huge difference to where players spend their cash.
We're not so sure about her return. "The Boss" character was fun and made Bgo stand out in a crowded room. Paris Hilton doesn't exactly exude that quality. However she is a known quantity and a safer option than another alumni, Dan Bilzerian. If Hilton is simply "holding the fort" whilst Bgo.com plan ahead for the future then it's not a bad move.
