Bingo World Record Attempts In The News

Published On 29th April 2019

Despite it's popularity, there are only a handful of world records for bingo. A number of these have been broken by online brands such as The Sun and Gala - although see below for news on their records. Hoping to join the bingo record breakers in The Guinness Book Of Records is Yvette Price-Mear. She's hoping to take the record for playing bingo by playing for eight days straight! Find out more below as well as other bingo events that are in the news.

According to Chad, Yvette has headed to the Cricklewood Beacon Bingo Hall to try and break the record. She started her marathon feat on 26th April 2019 and will continue playing bingo until 10pm on the 4th May. Yvette is hoping to win money and raise donations to support a pet bereavement support charity.

New Bingo World Records

Chad also reports that this isn't Yvette's first attempt at a marthon bingo stint. In 2018 she played bingo in Manchester and Birmingham over a period of seven days. This totalled 14 consecutive sessions and raised just over £1000. This year her aim is to go one day more and play in 16 consecutive sessions. We wish her all the luck with her record attempt and look forward to adding Yvette to our bingo world record list.

Whilst Yvette is trying to get her name in the book - Gala and The Sun are potentially losing their places. The Gila River Hotel & Casinos hosted a bingo event last week (Fox10) in an effort to break two world records: largest bingo card and biggest bingo balls. Their Facebook page has confirmed that they have been recognised by Guinness for both records. Will Gala and The Sun try and reclaim their crowns?

Shayne Ward Bingo

A world record attempt isn't the only exciting bingo event taking place in The UK this season. A number of tabloids are reporting that the 2005 X-Factor Star and ex-Corrie actor, Shayne Ward, will be appearing at Buzz Bingo in Grimsby on the 15th June. Tickets for this event are already selling fast - and no wonder because they cost just a fiver each. As far as we're aware there are no plans for Shayne to appear at other Buzz Bingo venues.

Finally, gambling and alcohol are often not recommended bed fellows, but The Looking Glass in Sunderland are hoping they'll be good mixers. As part of the city's first food and drink festival, visitors will be invited to play Gingo. This is a blend of bingo games and the chance to learn about gin from artisan distillers. Details and tickets for Gingo session are available at Ticketsource. A number of sessions are available and prizes can be won.
