Nektan Add Pragmatic Play Bingo Rooms
Article Updated On 15th July 2019
The arrival of a new bingo product is usually met with a large fanfare, but that's not been the case with the Nektan group. The Nektan platform, that includes brands such as Chomp, Cheeky Win and The Sun Play, has been more widely associated with slots and casino games. They're now hoping to attract bingo players with a mix of 30, 50, 75, 80 and 90 ball rooms.
Rather than opt for their own in-house bingo software, Nektan have added a product from Pragmatic Play. Essentially it's like a casino hosting a slot game. The game is developed and managed by a provider but fits seamlessly within the walls of the casino site. Players still use the same login and wallet when playing the games. Pragmatic Play can also insert their bingo rooms into other partner sites - thereby (hopefully) creating a more active service.
30, 50, 75, 80 and 90 Ball Bingo
You won't find bingo at every Nektan brand. The Sun Play for example doesn't host the bingo tab. We suspect that this is because it may detract or confuse from Sun Bingo. However many brands do have bingo and it can easily be found by clicking on the 'Bingo' link. This takes you to the Pragmatic Play rooms. When we dropped in there were five rooms to choose from Ballroom (90), Stars and Stripes (75), Boombox (80), Rock N Swing (50) and Speedy (30). Tickets for the games on offered ranged from 1p to 5p. A pre-buy option is available.
The rooms themeselves are quite simple but there's a chat facility and links to mini games. An enthusiastic announcer is on hand to let you know about ticket sales etc. However, there's a big problem and that comes in the shape of lack of players. When we logged in every room, bar the 90 one, happened to be empty. The 90 room however didn't have sufficient players for games to take place so they were being cancelled.
300% Welcome Bonus
This could be down to it being a brand new product and the fact players don't really know about it. To encourage new players you'll find a welcome bonus of a 300% bonus up to £90 plus spins on Candy Swap. Wagering terms of x5 apply to the bingo bonus. Hopefully Nektan can get themselves some bingo players because otherwise these rooms are never going to take off!
Whilst it's exciting to see Nektan join the bingo fray, we are concerned that there's just not enough bingo players interested. All Jumpman slot brands host bingo rooms but these are rarely populated. At time of writing there were just 5 players in Lucky Stars - and that's a busy day. Likewise MrQ - which has revamped to be more slots orientated - is struggling player numbers wise too.
The Ritz & The Chippy
However, even big brands are having problems getting new players. GVC, owners of Foxy Bingo, have resorted to promoting the brand to existing Gala players and offering incentives of bonuses at both sites. Whilst we understand why this is happening it's like offering a diner at The Ritz a nice glass of bubbly if they just pop over to the local chippy and purchase a fish supper. Whilst the Foxy product is improving it's miles away from the quality of Gala.
And this is the battle that faces Nektan, Jumpman and MrQ. If these bingo products are going to work then they need to get players away from established brands like Gala, Mecca and Jackpotjoy. To get those players the sites need to provide incentives such as free games, prizes and special offers. Whether they can afford to do that - as taxes now screw up everything - or there's the interest in the bingo population for it - remains to be seen.
