What Is Happening With BingoCams
Published On 18th October 2019
At the start of October we announced BingoCams as our site of the month. They have a whole bunch of prizes on offer in a spooktacular Halloween promotion. However there have been some spooky goings on at the site this month. On the 16th October the site announced the departure of not one, but three of their chat hosts. Wendy, Aaron and Jo have all now departed the site, but what is going on?
Wendy, Aaron and Jo all posted about their departures on the BingoCams Community Facebook group. This was accompanied by an announcement from 'Cams asking only for "comments with goodbyes, positive thoughts and best wishes for the hosts who are leaving". No explanation for their departures has been given but a subsequent post announced that the admin of the group could "confirm Bingocams is not closing".
Moving Platforms
We'd be very surprised to see BingoCams close, but we do wonder whether the departure of the chat hosts is a sign of a platform change for the brand? Currently BingoCams is one of a handful of brands that utilises an independent platform. Login to the lobby and you will find an array of rooms such as Coffee Morning, BingoBling, Rollover Riches, Hollywood Room and Happy Hour. Unfortunately you will also find that there are not many active players and that's a big issue.
All these things suggest to us that BingoCams will potentially change to another platform. It's sister site, Bright Bingo, moved to Dragonfish so that could be a possible future destination. If that did occur then we do wonder how the webcam feature of the site, it's unique selling point, would work. We're unconvinced that Bright Bingo's platform change was a success, and a similar move to BingoCams may not be ideal.
Success After Change
Changing platform isn't an unusual step for a bingo brand. As we have already ready mentioned Bright swapped to the Dragonfish Real Money Network. Other brands that have moved include Chit Chat (St Minver to Dragonfish), Foxy Bingo (Dragonfish to Cozy Games), Bgo.com (Xbingo to Virtue Fusion) and Sun Bingo (Gamesys to Virtue Fusion). Smaller sites have also swapped: Sailor have relaunched on Dragonfish whilst Umbingo have recently made the move to Jumpman.
The problem is that not every move works out well. Foxy Bingo were one of the top bingo brands but they're not exactly pulling up trees in their new home. Sun Bingo have done OK but in our view they were a better destination within the Gamesys set up. Chit Chat went from being the number one St Minver destination to a shadow of it's former self. Losing chat hosts is usually the first sign of imminent change and it'll be interesting to see what happens next at BingoCams.
