Aztec Bingo To Close In December
Article Updated On 31st October 2019
2019 has been the year of the bingo site closure. We've lost a lot of brands on Cozy Games and a handful on Dragonfish. Thankfully these closures have slowed down and we'd be surprised to see much more change as the year ebbs out. However sadly there is still another closure to announce and this time it's on Virtue Fusion. Aztec Bingo are the latest to announce their departure.
Aztec Bingo will officially close their doors on the 13th December 2019. If you're a player at the site then don't panic as you'll be notified of what's happening in due course. We're told that a notice of closure will be sent around the 6th November. On the 27th November the site will no longer accept deposits or new players. This will then give players until the closing day to either wager their funds or withdraw them.
Fluffy Favourites Bingo
We've been told that the decision to close wasn't the choice of Aztec Bingo. Therefore we can conclude that the decision most likely came from Playtech/Virtue Fusion. If this was the case then we can summise that they felt that Aztec was probably not generating enough revenue to remain live. A similar issue arose with Sea Bingo and it seems that smaller brands do tend to struggle on the Virtue Fusion platform. For example, BOGOF also closed this year!
It's not difficult to understand why this may be the case. Brands like Aztec have to compete with the likes of Gala, Mecca, Bet365, The Sun and Sky Bingo. All these brands have funds for bigger promotions and advertising. Additionally they offer many more bingo games and slots. These include things like Fluffy Favourites Bingo, Rainbow Riches Bingo and exclusive games. Unfortunately Aztec couldn't compete with that kind of thing.
What Next For Aztec?
The big question is is this the end of the line for Aztec Bingo? What we do know is that the current owners are pitching the domains and/or creative assets for sale so it's unlikely they will relaunch the brand on another network. It's therefore possible that a new owner could bring back Aztec during 2020 on another platform. In fact we wouldn't be surprised to see the brand appear as a new Jumpman Gaming site.
A bigger question is whether this will be the last of the bingo sites to close in 2019. We're going to predict that we won't see any or many more departures this year. Mind you that could simply be because there aren't too many Cozy Games brands left to close! Most certainly we won't see closures on Virtue Fusion or Dragonfish for the remainder of the year. Hopefully 2020 will see more new bingo brands and a lot less closures - now that'd be nice!
