888 Games Merges With 888 Casino

Published On 20th December 2019

The past 12 months has seen a lot of closures and changes within online bingo. However the slots and casino sector has also been undergoing similar issues. The whole Cozy Games mobile casino network has shut down whilst a number of other sites have either closed completely or decided to no longer accept UK players. The latest change comes on the 888/Dragonfish platform where 888 Games has now closed in favour of it's bigger sister site at 888 Casino.

888 Games was the forerunner to many of the slot brands that mushroomed as partner sites to their more popular bingo counterparts. It offered players access to the Dragonfish platform's slots but without any bingo lobby to contend with. Wink Slots, Foxy Casino, Moon Games and Costa Games were all basically clones of 888 Games. However the latter held a strong advantage over it's competitiors as it offered a £12 no deposit bonus. Surprisingly the brand maintained this huge welcome offer longer after no deposit bonuses declined in popularity and/or became spins instead.

Old Accounts Transferred

Visitors to 888 Games are now redirected to the 888 Casino. A pop-up explains that the merger will offer players "a bigger and better experience". Players from 888 Games don't need to create a new account or worry about loss of depsoits. The pop-up goes on to say "please rest assured that your bankroll and old accout details have been seamlessly transferred. Just log in with the same account details and you're good to go". Cash funds can be withdrawn according to withdrawal terms and conditions.

It's sad to see 888 Games close down but it makes sense to combine the two sites. The 888 Games site really only had it's £12 no deposit bonus as a unique selling point - one that it's had for a number of years. Whilst 888 Games has added new slots to it's roster over time, it's basically offering the same games as 888 Casino. Having two sites with a similar name that offer the same product doesn't make much sense. This move now allows a better focus on developing 888 Casino.

What Next For 888?

The merge of Games and Casino does raise a question about a number of bingo and slot brands that are in the 888 camp. 888 Bingo and 888 Ladies Bingo spring to mind. The former has been left on the shelf whilst Ladies has had more focus and attention. Because of the way bingo has changed in 2019 especially with many sites offering the same games, jackpots, promotions and slots, it would make sense for more changes.

Whilst the demise of 888 Games is a sad one, it could mean that 888 Casino will rise in 2020. We're hoping that it will offer more promotions and tournaments as well as exclusive games and jackpots. It will be interesting to see whether the £88 no deposit bonus survives much longer. It remains the biggest welcome deal for new players but it wouldn't come as a surprise to see a change on the horizon.
