Win Bitcoin With The Bitcoin Lotto
Article Updated On 1st April 2021
Bitcoin continues to rise in value and this week we noticed that there's now a lottery game that offers the chance to win the cryptocurrency. BitCoin Lotto launched a few years ago on Lottoland and plays exclusively on the site daily Monday to Saturday at 8.30pm. A Bitcoin jackpot is available to players who match six numbers but according to Lottoland 1-in-7 bets will win a prize. However the smaller prizes are all paid in cash with Bitcoin only available for the larger prize winners.
To play BitCoin Lotto you simply need to pick six numbers between 1 and 49. In short it's like any other lottery! You can select your own numbers or use the Lucky Dip option. Each line costs £3 each. Although you are betting on the results of the lottery you can't select more or less than six numbers. Some lottery betting services allow you to select more for example in order to create combination bets. At 8.30pm each day (Monday to Saturday) Lottoland will host the draw for the Bitcoin Lotto and if you match 2 numbers or more then you're a winner.
Bitcoin Lotto Prizes
If you match all six numbers then you win the jackpot prize which can be paid in Bitcoin to your Bitcoin wallet. The jackpot seems to fluctuate but for today's game is 600 BTC which doesn't sound that much. However the value of Bitcoin has risen from £5000 to almost £45,000 in 12 months. This means that at today's current valuation the jackpot prize is a staggering £27,265,573.96! A cash alternative is available should you not wish to take the BTC prize but this is fixed at £10million - not the pounds value of the BTC prize.
Bitcoin can also be won if you match 5 numbers and the prize is currently 1 BTC (worth £45,000 as of April 2021). A cash alternative of just under £14,000 can be taken. Although Lottoland say that 1 in 7 bets will win a prize the smaller prizes are paid out in cash. There's £50 for matching 4 numbers, £5 for matching 3 numbers and £1.50 for matching 2 numbers. The results of recent games can be found on the Lottoland website but what we can't find is any reference to winners or even a breakdown of winners. For example it would be useful to know how many 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 ball winners there were each week.
Sorteos De Bonoloto
In case you're concerned that the lottery may be fixed or weighted in favour of Lottoland then there's no need to worry. The results of the game are derived from Sorteos De Bonoloto. This according to Wikipedia is a lottery in Spain, regulated by the Sociedad Estatal Loterķas y Apuestas del Estado. The chances of matching six numbers is 1 in 13,983,816 whilst it's 1 in 54,201 for matching five numbers. These were the same odds as The UK National Lottery before they increased the number of balls in the draw.
One thing that did suprise us was that Lottoland's Bitcoin Lottery has been running for over three years now. Given that the value of BTC has jumped dramatically in the last 12 months it would make sense (at least to us) to feature the game more prominently. In fact it doesn't even seem to be mentioned on Lottoland's Jackpots page so is the game still running? Or perhaps it's a game not open to UK players? We don't know and there doesn't seem to be much information either way available online. However we do wonder with the increased interest in BTC whether more lottery, slots and casino brands will emerge in the future.
