Coconut Island Scratchcard
Towards the end of 2014, Gala Bingo launched another exclusive bingo room called Coconut Island. This is a 50 ball room with a beach theme. As seems to be the way these days the new room has arrived accompanied by a matching scratchcard. We thought we'd don a bathing suit and check out what's on offer.
Coconut Island Scratchcard is a little bit different to the other instants we've reviewed at Gala Bingo recently. The premise is the same - you need to scratch nine times to reveal the symbols. However instead of matching three in a line you simply need to match three symbols in any position.
The symbols range from a seagull, crab, coconut, treasure chest, oyster pearl, fish and hammock. Another major difference with respect to Coconut Island Scratchcard and other games is that it has a progressive jackpot. If you reveal x3 treasure chests then you'll be taking home the jackpot. The amount will be determined on your coin size.
With this game you can select your coin size - from 10p through to £5 - and choose autoplay. As with all scratchcards you can scratch the symbols yourself or opt for the lazy "reveal all" button. The game is accompanied by sounds of the sea although there is a very annoying seagull call when you lose!
We quite liked this game - at least in terms of look and feel. The match any three symbols rather than get them in a line is something most players would expect too. However we did find that winning on this game was a lot less frequent than on Soccer Wives and Saturday Night Takeaway. We may have just been unlucky but would have anticipated a 1 in 4 win rate - rather than 1 win in 10 attempts.
