Play Strike it Lucky for Cash Prizes

Following the success of Deal or No Deal slots in 2007 - Jackpotjoy tried to emulate that success with another TV show - Stike It Lucky. Strike It Lucky was a famous quiz show presented by Michael Barrymore - players played in two person teams with the aim to get from one side of a series of TV monitors to another. Behind each monitor was either an arrow, hotspot or question and players needed to avoid the hotspots as a hotspot is not a good spot. Strike It Lucky

Strike it Lucky Slots was exclusive to Jackpotjoy. The slot game offered a progressive jackpot and to celebrate Loquax even had a fun free version of the game where you could win Jackpotjoy points. However, in March 2010 Jackpotjoy dropped the Strike it Lucky slot from their roster.

Whilst other TV related games, such as Deal or No Deal, Goldenballs, Red or Black and more recently The Cash Drop, have flourished as either slots or bingo games - sadly Strike It Lucky hit one too many hot spots!

It's unknown whether the slot just didn't appeal to players because they didn't know the TV show or whether it was tainted in some way due to it's link to Barrymore. Either way it's a shame as it wasn't a bad slot game (our review). However, it does go to show that not every slot theme works. Another example would be The Weakest Link - this was created into a prize quiz game by Unfortunately both the game and the site failed to gain interest and it closed within a few months of launch.

That said, the failure of one or two slots hasn't stopped operators looking to the TV market for new ideas. Since we wrote this article slot and scratchcard games have been developed for Take Me Out, Red Or Black, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and even The Love Boat. We suspect they'll be many more to follow!
