It's been a while since we took a look at some of the recent casino TV adverts but after spotting this effort from Betfair it's one we couldn't ignore. The advert is part of the Where Do You Play Yours series - a way of promoting playing Betfair casino and bingo games via mobile. The bingo version is fluffier and includes otters whilst the casino one is otterless but equally as nuts.

In the ad we see a pair of hands holding a mobile with Betfair Casino loaded in - and then we're treated to different locations where you can play. You can play live casino in your greenhouse, fighting a bear, in a canoe or even underwater. The clips are accompanied by some weird things like a rubber octopus, nurses dancing with a monster, a giant's box and a guy busting some moves.

The voice over guy even says it's a bit weird and that's probably the overriding feeling. We're not sure if the advert is meant to be funny and quirky or whether someone from The Apprentice was hired to put it together and managed to raid the wardrobes of Doctor Who when Tom Baker was on board. The only thing of note is that new players get free spins on live roulette when they join!

In fairness we should congratulate Betfair for doing something different away from the standard shots of slot machines and neon signs. However it doesn't work for us and ultimately feels like a bit of an irritation. Funny and quirky can work for casino adverts but you need the likes of Victor and Maurice on board for it to be memorable.
