Six reel slots seem to be the flavour of the day from Williams Interactive. Following on the footsteps of Zues III they've now added Raging Rhino to the roster at Sky Vegas. This jungled themed slot has a bank of six reels and 4 lines which they claim offers 4096 different winning combinations on each spin.
Raging Rhino slots didn't immediately blow us away in terms of graphics. It has a jungle theme with Rhinos, Gorillas, Crocodiles and other similar animals amongst it's icon sets. The spins are accompanied by jungle music and jungle noises but we actually prefer the soundtrack offered by Bgo's Jungle Island.
The six reels make the slot slightly more busy and it does take a while to get use to the set up. It's almost impossible to figure out if you have a win except when it's blindingly obvious. The most exciting aspect of the game we could find was when you get a Rhino win line. This is greeted with a shout of "Rhino" - it's totally random but at least you know you've picked up a sizeable win.
As there are no win lines as such each spin has a fixed price of 40p. You can raise the stake by increasing the multiplier up to a maximum of x150 - meaning the maximum spin cost is £60. Like normal 5 reel slots the game features wilds and scatters - there is apparently a free spin feature included somewhere too. In our test play we only ever saw wilds! One thing worth mentioning is that if you do activate the feature then you're guaranteed a x10 bonus win.
We like different and we like innovation, especially when it comes to elevating the traditional slot game to a new level. However like the Christmas Tree set of Zeus III, we just find the 6x4 format a tad too confusing to make things more enjoyable. We're not getting 20% more fun with the appearance of the extra reel. In fact it actually grates a little as it just looks out of place. No doubt it will be a big hit with slot players but for us it's probably one we'd not go back to too quickly.
