Plants vs Zombies: Wild Gargantuar Slot Review
Paddy Power Games
One of the world's biggest games has become an online slot and it's sure to be a smash hit. Plants vs Zombies is the newest addition to Sky Vegas. This arcade game, from Popcap and Entertainment Arts, has grown since it's 2009 release to take the world of gaming by storm. But how will it fair in a gambling environment?
Plants vs Zombies: Wild Gargantuar to give it's full name is a 20 line 5 reel slot. You can play from 20p a spin through to a maximum of £500. The RTP is quoted as 94.68%. The graphics are fun and colourful whilst the music is limited, which makes life actually a lot more enjoyable. Game play is occasionally punctuated by Crazy Dave who imparts some unique wisdom to you.
The slot has several features including Wilds, Cherry Bomb Free Spins, Zombie Bonus, Zen Garden Bonus, Marigold Cash Prize and a Progressive Jackpot. Each of the bonus rounds involve you making a selection to determine the value of your prize. The progressive jackpot can also be won in any of the bonus rounds or during the free spins section. We quite like that but do wonder what the chances of winning it are!
During our testing we discovered that Crazy Dave does have a little more purpose. He actually tells you when Zombies are coming. These jump over your reels to convert icons to "Wilds" which hopefully create a big win. Dave is also on hand to announce the arrival of The Gargantuar - a larger zombie who hammers stack wilds on reels 3 to 5. Don't expect a win though even under those conditions.
Crazy Dave and his Wild Zombies actually pop up a lot more than the bonuses, which was great but it'd have been nice to cover them a bit more. Without Crazy Dave we'd have been really disappointed with the gaming experience, but knowing there's a chance of a big win with that route it makes up for the poor show in terms of bonus rounds.
Overall we were very impressed with Plants vs Zombies: Wild Gargantuar. It's good visually, the music isn't intrusive and the game play fun. We'd obviously have liked to have seen at least one bonus round drop in during testing but were happy by the occasional Zombie Wilds. The Gargantuar would have been better had it's appearance resulted in a win. Give it a try with free demo play over at Sky Vegas.
