Apollo Rising is a 100 line slot from IGT. You can play it over at Star Spins and as we've not seen this game before we decided to take a closer look. As the name suggests it's space themed game with rockets, astronauts and even a dog with a bone. Think of a 80s version of The Jetsons coupled with music from Jean Michel Jarre and you're pretty much on the money.
Apollo Rising is quite a vertical game with five columns and 8 rows - all combining to give you those 100 paylines. Note that you can't reduce the number of paylines! The minimum cost per line is 1p and on Star Spins the maximum cost is 5p meaning your game play will cost £1, £2 or £5.
The graphics are nice and fit the theme well - although as mentioned above it does feel a little 80s in style. The spins are clean and it's all accompanied with shooting stars. After each spin you are shown any winning paylines although if you get a "wild" then a large rocket will appear in the respective column - this also generates a free spin.
If you love Jean Michel Jarre then you'll love the music that accompanies Apollo Rising. It's not JMJ by the way but it does have that haunting space feel to it. It ties the game together nicely and despite not winning very much during our review play it was quite enjoyable.
The big question is would we go back and play Apollo Rising again? Yes would be the answer because we enjoyed the graphics and music but the lack of features does make it a little one dimensional. The only feature is the "wild" and the free respins - that's not enough to be fair. We'd like to see extra features and perhaps even a progressive jackpot before committing to playing on a more regular basis.
Apollo Rising has has an expected payback (RTP) of 92.56% to 96.33% and can be played at Star Spins, Pocket Fruit, Sky Vegas and other slot sites.
