If you grew up in the 70s then you'll probably remember watching World Of Sport with Dickie Davies. Every now and then the programme would feature stuntman Evil Knievel as he attempted jumping over things - usually buses - on his motorbike. On one occasion he even tried to jump The Grand Canyon. Knievel died in 2007 but his legend lives on in a new slot game - Evel Knievel - Road To Vegas!
Evel Knievel - Road To Vegas is a five reel, 25 win line slot from Core Gaming. The game is set at Knievel's caravan somewhere in Nevada. It has a 70s feel with the music that accompanies the slot - you're regularly informed that you're actually listening to Las Vegas radio. The Vegas theme is also evident in the icons and graphics. However it all works well and is actually pretty cool.
Options are limited - you can choose to play from 25p through to £500 a spin. The paylines are fixed so you will always have 25 win lines per game. There is an Auto play option which does boast a number of features we've not seen before. These include a loss limit and single win limit. Mind you, once you've played Evel Knievel - Road To Vegas you won't want to put it on auto!
This game comes alive during the bonus features. Evel jumps off his chair and spins a wheel to determine which feature you win. The features include Route 66, Skycycle, Memory Bank, To The Limit and Jump For Glory. Each has Evel doing something stunt related - for example Jump For Glory replicates his famous Wembley Bus jumps. In Route 66 you must guide Evel through a series of 10 daring stunts to win cash prizes.
As slots go this is one of the coolest we've seen. The bonus rounds are a lot of fun and it's just a shame that you can't get to them direct. We'd love to see an instant win version of the features - they are brilliant. Core Gaming have done an amazing job with Evel Knievel - Road To Vegas. Hopefully they can follow it up with more stunt ventures.
