Mystery Reels Megaways Slot Review
Given The UKGC's clampdown on images that may appeal to children, it's not a surprise to see many game providers head back to safer ground. Red Tiger Gaming are the latest to take out the old and popular fruit machine symbols and jazz them up for the more modern slot player. Mystery Reels combines old school fruit with the Megaways engine.
Mystery Reels Megaways is a 6 reel multi playline slot from Red Tiger Gaming. The Megaways engine is licensed from BTG. It's derived from their original Mystery Reels game but to be fair this version is much more stylish. This is the fruit machine of the 21st Century complete with an enthralling soundtrack that wouldn't be out of place as a filler on a dance anthems album.
Wagering on Mystery Reels Megaways starts at just 10p but this can be increased with the -/+ stake button up to £20 (this may be more depending where you play). An autoplay button allows you to set up to 100 auto spins as well as a loss limit. You can also set autoplay to stop if a win is in excess of a certain amount or if the bonus is activated. The game plays well on mobile, tablet and desktop.
Set on a predominantly dark background with brushed steel borders, the slot features lucky 7s, plums, bells, oranges, lemons, cherries, grapes, stars and horseshoes. The Lucky 7 is the top paying symbol and offers x50 for six of a kind. All the remaining symbols are on the low payout scale that ranges from 0.8 (cherry) to 7.5 (star).
Although these payouts seem low, Mystery Reels Megaways boasts cascading wins and win mulipliers. Win line symbols are exploded from the reels and replaced by new ones. This continues until there are no wins. In addition there's the Megaways engine that offers a staggering 117,649 ways to win. Symbols just need to be on adjacent reels to record wins. The size of the symbol doesn't matter.
Additionally, Mystery Reels Megaways has two further features. Look out for the Mystery Apple that randomly appears during game play. This will clone itself across the reels before revealing the mystery symbol for a win. Free spins can also be won when three free spins symbols appear on the reels. You can accept 8 free spins or play the bonus wheel to gamble for more spins.
Mystery Reels Megaways has an RTP of 98.06% at Leo Vegas which makes it a high/medium variance game. It's most certainly very stylish and in our view one of the better looking slots that's using the Megaways engine. The Megaways bandwagon is really speeding up and players may be forgiven for having a bit of Megaways fatigue.
However we like this particular slot and enjoyed reviewing it. The Mystery Apple feature materialised just once but the bonus round didn't feature. The win multipliers were frequent enough to maintain interest. The Megways win lines do get confusing but Red Tiger Gaming have done a good job bringing together an old school fruity with the current darling of the slots world.
