Monopoly Heights Slot Review

Last week we took you to the Monopoly Grand Hotel, a 50 payline slot from Scientific Games and Shuffle Master. This week we're back on the Monopoly board but in a different part of town. Monopoly Heights is a new slot from SG and Bally Games. It offers four jackpot prizes plus 1024 different paylines. We decided to check out the neighbourhood.

Monopoly Heights Slot

Monopoly Heights is a 5 reel, 4 row, 1024 payline slot. It's set on a backdrop of high rise buildings with the reels located inside a wide structure. Visually it looks ok but for us it doesn't quite have the same impact as the Monopoly Grand Hotel slot. The reel symbols, based on the popular board game, look simplistic and each spin is accompanied by an upbeat 20s style tune.

How To Play

Wagering on Monopoly Heights starts at 25p but can be increased incrementally up to a maximum of £100 (Jackpotjoy). This upper limit may vary from site to site. An Autoplay features gives you the choice of 5, 25, 50 and 100 Autospins plus a facility to stop this play based on losses and wins. You can play Monopoly Heights on desktop, tablet and mobile.

On the reels you'll find Rich Uncle Pennybags alongside the free parking symbol, diamonds, rings, Monopoly money and chests. These are joined by the playing card symbols of A, K, Q and J. Wilds and hotel symbols make up the remainder of the reel roster. Moneybags, the Monopoly Heights game symbol and diamond are the highest paying symbols and will pay x2 on a row of 5 of a kind.

Bonus Features

Monopoly Heights has a number of features. These include wilds which appear only on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. The hotel is the scatter symbol and this appears on reels 1 and 5 only during the base game. Get at least one hotel on the reels for a possible chance to win the game's jackpots - mini, minor, major and grand. If hotels land on both reels 1 and 5 then the jackpot feature is guaranteed.

Win that involve Rich Uncle Pennybags activate the game's Expanding Reels feature. The reels on screen become locked but a new row is added thereby increasing the number of ways to win. If Pennybags appears and new win lines created then the feature continues until a spin does not improve the winning combinations or a maximum of 4 expansion rows have been added. If all eight rows are in play then this creates 32,768 ways to win.

The Verdict

Although initially not up to the style and look of Monopoly Grand Hotel, Monopoly City Heights quickly became a bit of a grower. The Expanding Reels feature popped up a few times when we tested the slot and it's not difficult to see where the design budget went. Pennybags appears at the top of the building and pushes the rows down to create the expansion.

Monopoly Heights has an RTP of 95.85% which makes it medium variance. We found that wins were reasonably frequent but tended to be small. The wins from the Expanding Reels rounds didn't exactly swell the coffers (x2, x3 wager) but occasionally a x25 big win bucked the trend. The big wins seem to be reserved for the jackpot round. Overall this is an entertaining addition to the Monopoly slots genre and one worth checking out.
