Bowling Frenzy Slot Review
Bowling may not strike (see what we did there) you as a suitable theme for a slot, but Sunfox Games - a Playtech company - have decided to give it a go. To be fair they've done quite a decent job too with their game, Bowling Frenzy. This 40 payline slot could easily be mistaken for Grease slots as it takes us back to the 50s with characters who resemble Danny and Sandy from the hit movie.
Bowling Frenzy is a 5 reel, 4 row, 40 payline slot that features on Playtech casino and bingo brands. The game opens to highlight the slot's main features. We also get to meet the two lead characters - a lady with frizzy hair and dressed in tight black leather pants and a greased back young man dressed in a leather jacket. The slot itelf has a bowling alley backdrop and a car rear bumper bizarrely at the top.
How To Play Bowling Frenzy
On the reels you'll find the male and female characters, a pink hot rod car, bowling shoes and a burger meal. These high paying symbols are joined by playing card icons of 10, J, Q, K and A. Wilds and 'Not Danny' pay the most for five on a win line (x800) whilst 'Not Sandy' pays just x400 for five of a kind. At least this slot manages to convey 60s inequality in a very non-subtle way.
Wagering on Bowling Frenzy starts at just 10p a spin. This amount can be wagered upwards to a maximum of £100 a play. An Autoplay option gives you the choice of 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 spins plus there's a turbo spin option. We're never quite sure why slots offer this option because it's not like the slot spins are particular slow anyway.
High Wins Free Games
Bowling Frenzy boasts a number of features. These include wilds and scatter symbols. The scatters, represented by bowling pins, play an important role in the game. Scatters that appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 can add up to 3 pins to the bowling pins highlighted above the respective reels. When 10 bowling pins appear then a bowling ball will play to determine free spins. These free spins are played with cascading win reels.
If three or more scatter symbols appear across all reels then the bonus game is activated. This stage allows you to choose from 1 of 3 options: High Wins Free Games, Multiplier Free Games and Kingpin Cash Bonus. In High Wins only the high paying symbols appear on the reels. Meanwhile, during Multiplier Free Games the wilds can add up to x5 on a win line. Finally Kingpin lets you play two bowling balls to win up to x100 and x25 your wager.
Bowling Frenzy is a nice looking, fun to play slot. We like the theme although we think more players would take a look if it had a Grease inspired title. The RTP of the slot is given as 95.60% which makes it medium variance. When we span the reels we picked up a number of decent sized wins but we expect the bigger prizes pop up during the bonus features.
This isn't the first time that bowling has been adapted for online gambling. Back in 2016 William Hill introduced Bingo Bowl to their users. This 50 ball game boasts a Kingpin Jackpot and is exclusive to the site. Thankfully Bowling Frenzy is available across multiple brands - and we think it's most definitely worth a look.
