Love Island Slingo Review
What do you get when you combine a popular ITV2 dating programme with a popular slots meets bingo game? The answer is Love Island Slingo! Now these two may not be the most obvious couple, but this is yet another TV themed version of the game. The big question is it a relationship that will last? Or is it one you should vote off?
Love Island Slingo is essentially a branded version of the standard game. Set on a sandy sunset background, Love Island Slingo is played on a 5x5 grid of numbers. The numbers range from 1 to 75. To the right of the game is a basket of 11 balls - or turns. When you click spin five numbers are shown on the reels of the base of the numbers. Any numbers that match are marked off.
How To Play Love Island Slingo
The aim of any Slingo game is to get a line - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. Each line represents a win and the more lines you get the bigger the prize. A completed card represents a full house. During game play you may get wilds or super wilds that allow you to select numbers on the game card. Additionally free play balls can be won - it's possible to get up to six free plays per turn.
Wagering on Slingo starts at just 10p a turn. This can be increased up to a maximum of £400 (Spin Genie). The maximum wager may vary from site to site. There is no Autoplay but Love Island Slingo does allow you to wager on. Basically once your turn has finished you'll be invited to play on for a given price and potential win. We advise against this option as wins are rare!
Beach Ball Scatters
The above pretty much describes every Slingo variant, so what does Love Island bring to the party? Well there's a beach ball scatter prize if you 3, 4 or 5 symbols appear on the reels. Additionally when the numbers are marked off the cards they're marked off with hearts. A shark represents a 'no number' that occasionally pops up on the reels. And that's about it!
Slingo has increased in popularity thanks to Gaming Realms offering their games to other casino brands. This means it's no longer limited to Spin Genie, The X Factor Games, Love Island Games and Slingo.com. That said this isn't the best version of the game. In our view Slingo Showdown wins that title as it combines bingo, poker and slots.
We're not adverse to TV themed games as some, such as Deal Or No Deal Slots or The Crystal Maze Bingo, can be good. However too often developers get lazy and just give an original game a makeover. They don't add anything new to the game or give players something unique to make it worth playing. This is the case with Love Island Slingo. It's a "jump on a bandwagon" game - pretty much like Sky's Love Island Bingo in 2018.
Love Island fans will get nothing from this game and Slingo fans won't find anything new. Given that there are other versions of this slot-bingo game we think you'd enjoy trying others well ahead of this one. Love Island Slingo can be played on mobile, tablet and desktop. It has an RTP of 95%.
