The Greatest Train Robbery Slot Review
Red Tiger invite you to sign up and become a bandit for The Gold Express Heist. Thankfully you don't need to undertake a life of crime for this endeavour. Instead you just need to spin the reels of The Greatest Train Robbery slot. Note this isn't The Great Train Robbery - it's better than that - well according to Red Tiger. Let's see what we think about it.
The Greatest Train Robbery is a 5 reel, 4 row, 40 payline slot. It's set in the desert, perhaps Arizona during the height of The Gold Rush era. The viewpoint of the slot is looking down on five railroad tracks. The tops of trains race now the tracks representing the reels spinning. Each spin is accompanied by a train related soundtrack. Occasionally tumbleweed rolls by and you'll also see shadows of eagles flying over.
How To Play The Greatest Train Robbery
The icons you see on The Greatest Train Robbery are quite basic. The graphics budget obviously went in to the animations. On the reels are gold, money and diamonds as the highest paying symbols. These are joined by playing card symbols 10, J, Q, K and A. Gold bars and wilds are the highest paying symbols that pay x600 for five of a kind. Silver coins pay x400 and green jewels are x280.
Wagering on The Greatest Train Robbery starts at just 10p a spin. This can be adjusted upwards to a maximum wager of £200 (Casumo). This maximum wager may be different from casino to casino. An Auto-Play feature gives you the option to play 10 to 100 spins whilst also setting loss and win limits to cut off the auto-play. If the spins aren't fast enough then a turbo button is available.
This slot boasts a number of exciting features. Get three bonus symbols on the reels and the bandits of this heist will be summoned. Each bonus symbol reveals a number of free spins. During the free spins round the bandits may feel generous and award you with extra spins. The bandits can also appear randomly during the base game.
If the bandits do appear they may award you with mystery symbols, a re-spin or cloning wilds. The bandits will throw dynamite onto the reels and these will explode to hopefully reveal a bonus award. Note that a bonus isn't awarded every time the bandits appear. In fact they more often than not appear and disappear without doing anything.
The Greatest Train Robbery is a fun and novel theme for a slot. Although as mentioned above, Red Tiger seem to have blown the graphics budget in their animations. That said we do like the railway spinning reels. It's available to play on mobile, tablet and desktop. In addition it's part of the Daily Drop Jackpot series so has a must have progressive jackpot as well as a Mega Drop prize.
Where this slot derails a little is in the bonuses department. During our trial play we frequently got two bonus symbols but never three. Likewise the bandits appeared but then disappeared without a feature. That's perhaps not unusual, but it'd be nice of the bandits robbed a train once in a while. The slot does have an RTP of 96.01% but plays high variance with small wins few and far between. Overall Red Tiger's game, with it's x2000 max win, does fall short of The Greatest Train Robbery - unless you score the Mega Drop jackpot.
