Slingo Fortunes Review

Slingo Fortunes takes the popular bingo and slots game to the Far East. If you've not played any of these games before then you'll be pleasently surprised. However if, like us, you've played multipler versions of Slingo you'll also be surprised. This is because Fortunes is a Far East version of Deal Or No Deal Slingo. The red boxes have been replaced by Lucky Envelopes. The Banker has gone too but will the replacement fortune cookies crumble in your favour?

Slingo Fortunes

Slingo Fortunes is a stylish looking version of the game. In the middle of proceedings is the usual 5x5 grid containing random numbers from 1 to 25. To the right are your turns that are represented by balls in a tube. Either side of the grid is a series of 26 prize values. These range from 1p to 50 for a 1 stake. A final table indicates the number of Slingos you have achieved and what they represent in terms of a win multiplier.

How To Play Slingo Fortunes

The aim of any Slingo game is to get a line - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. On each turn you'll see five numbers generated on the reels below the 5x5 grid. Any numbers that correspond to those on the grid will be crossed off. Each numbered envelope also has a cash value and these are removed from the sides. The more Slingos you achieve in Fortunes the bigger the multiplier of your prize. Note that you need to reach a minimum of 4 Slingos to win.

Wagering on this version of Slingo starts at 1. This can be increased up to a maximum of 100 (Spin Genie). The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site. There is no Autoplay but Slingo Fortunes does allow you to wager on. Basically once your 10 turns - plus free plays - have finished you'll be invited to play on for a given price and potential win. We advise against this option as wins are rare!

Deal Or No Deal

At the start of Slingo Fortunes you're invited to select an envelope from 26 available. This becomes your Lucky Envelope akin to your box on Deal. If you reach 4 or more Slingos you'll be made an offer. Your choice is to accept the Fortunes Offer, open the envelope or play on. Will you choose wisely? If you choose to play on and eventually reach a full house then you'll receive the prize in your envelope with a x20 multiplier.

The maximum win on Slingo Fortunes is x50 your wager. Therefore the top cash prize is 5000 based on a 100 play. Keen Slingo observers will note that this is quite low when compared to Slingo Riches (x200), Slingo Extreme (x500) and Slingo XXXtreme (x1000). That said you do get much more entertainment value for your money.

The Verdict

If we'd not played Deal Or No Deal Slingo then we'd probably rank Fortunes as one of the better versions of the slots meets bingo game. However, we do feel a little bit cheated by playing the same game but with a Far East influence. It's almost like this is a back up to Deal if/when Endemol decide not to renew their license (or just pull the plug without notice as they did for their affiliates of Deal Or No Deal Bingo).

That said, Fortunes like Deal is a good Slingo game. It feels far more involved than other variants. From picking the envelope at the start, choosing wilds/super wilds, the Fortunes Offer and opting to deal or no deal are all elements of the game. Whether strategy, skill or luck is the dominant factor is unknown, but Fortunes does immerse you in the game. If Fortunes is available to play then we'd select this over any of the TV variations - except of course for DOND!
