Rubik's Cube Slot Review
Innovation in slots seems to be focused on expanding the ever growing stable of Megaways or Slingo titles. However it's good to still be able to come across something different and yet quite innovative. Rubik's Cube is a brand new slot from Ash Gaming that's currently exclusive to Buzz Bingo. It takes the 80s puzzle phenomena and gives it a modern twist for online slots players.
Rubik's Cube slot is a 25 payline 5 reel slot that utilises a face of the cube within it's game play. When you first login to play you'll see a typical slot but reels 1 and 5 have dividers from reels 2, 3 and 4. Above the reels you'll see a Rubik's Cube which spins and moves when you play. The icons on the reels are made up of coloured squares which correspond to those on a typical cube (red, green, blue, yellow, orange and white). Other icons are playing card symbols represented by 9, 10, J, Q, K and A.
How To Play Rubik's Cube Slot
Wagering on Rubik's Slot starts at just 10p but you can increase this in stages up to £100. Use the +/- buttons on the Total Bet button to decide your wager. An autoplay feature is available on the right of the slot and this allows you to set the number of spins that you wish to play. Unusually for newer slots there doesn't seem to be any advanced options such as stopping autoplay after wins, losses or bonus rounds. But what about the game? Well gameplay is like any other slot - select your wager and spin - but this slot does have that Rubik's twist.
As mentioned there's a cube at the top of the reel that spins when you take a turn. The face at the end of your turn corresponds to the 3x3 grid of icons on the reels 2, 3 and 4. If any colour cubes on reels 2, 3 and 4 match the pattern of those on the cube then these are turned to wilds. For example if a red square appears in the middle of the cube and on the middle of reel 3 then that becomes wild. If the face of the cube is all one colour then you have "solved the Rubik's Cube'. This results in wilds with multipliers. The multiplier value changes per colour with white being x2, yellow x3, orange x4, green x5, blue x6 and red x7.
Free Spins Bonus Round
During game play a Rubik's bonus symbol may appear on reels 1 and 5. If the symbol appears on both at the same time then this activates a free spins bonus round. There are six different free spin rounds but they need to be unlocked. To start with though you'll be able to play 10 spins with x2 multipliers. Unlock all the options and you can choose the red x7 mutliplier with only 2 free spins. It's not made clear how you unlock the levels. During the free spins when a coloured square corresponding to the level appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 then it remains wild throughout the bonus round.
This isn't the first slot or instant win game that features a Rubik's Cube. However it does seem that the other games may no longer be available. This does therefore make it difficult to compare but from what we've seen and can remember this is a decent game to play. Wins were quite frequent, albeit small except during the bonus round which generated a x40 result. The bonus round however is very infrequent. Solving the cube multipliers are less rare although they don't always result in a win of any substance.
