Kingdoms Rise Shadow Queen Slot Review
The latest addition to the Kingdoms Rise universe is Shadow Queen. The game was launched during the summer of 2020 and became the eighth title in the series. Like it's predecessors the slot is linked via a map and bonus game. Additionally there are three progressive jackpots including the Epic Jackpot that can be won by playing Kingdoms Rise slots. However as is the case with all the games in this stable, Shadow Queen has it's own features such as Magic Wins.
Kingdoms Rise Shadow Queen is a 25 payline 5 reel slot. The reels of the slot are positioned over a golden magic wheel which forms the basis of the game. It has a fantasy themed so expect to see magical symbols, witches, and wizards as you spin. Talana, The Shadow Queen, is the main character and she is joined by Radoman, The Red Knight, Zalia, The Sorceress and Crast, The Crystal Golem. These are joined on the reels by various gem symbols, a magic book and the magic wheel. Overall it looks good but initially we were not totally blown away by the look.
How To Play Shadow Queen
Wagering on Shadow Queen starts at 10p but can be increased to £100 via the left hand side wagering +/- buttons. An autoplay option gives you the choice of playing 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 slots. Advanced options allow you to stop autoplay based on loss limit and single win limits. Surprisingly there doesn't seem to be the choice to stop autoplay if the feature bonus round is activated. An info button to the left and spin button to the right complete the game.
Magic Wins Bonus Round
As with all Kingdoms Rise games there are a series of characters that dominate the reels. These are mentioned above. The Red Knight is the highest paying symbol with x500 for five on a win line. The Sorceress pays x250 as does Crast. The Shadow Queen is a wild symbol and this can be stacked. The Shadow Queen can be substituted for all symbols except for scatters - the magic wheel symbol. You can find out more about the characters on the official Kingdoms Rise website.
Get three scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 to activate the Magic Wins Bonus Round. Initially the outer wheel will spin to determine the number of magic wins. If you land on an arrow then the next inner wheel will spin which offers more spins. Ultimately you can win up to 10 Magic Wins. During Magic Wins you are guaranteed to win prizes regardless of the number of spins. Additionally the multiplier increases by 1 for each spin. Only a winning spin will reduce the number of spins that you have left.
As part of the Kingdoms Rise stable, Shadow Queen also offers players the chance to win 1 of 3 progressive jackpots. These are the Epic Jackpot, Power Strike Jackpot which must be won before it reachs £2000, and the Daily Jackpot that must be won before midnight. These jackpots can be won on any spin. Additionally you can earn those game tokens on each spin. Get enough of them and you can use them to purchase bonus round games via the shop.
Our first impression of Shadow Queen wasn't that good. The graphics looked OK but not overwhelmning. However after spinning a few times the slot slowly grew on us. Wins, whilst small, tended to be quite regular. The bonus round was teased a few times but did eventually drop in. It's actually a nice change getting a bonus round knowing that it's going to result in wins. It's probably no different from other bonus rounds but it feels more positive than winning 12 spins and not winning on 10. Shadow Queen has an RTP of 96.37 - 96.49%.
