Book Of Slingo Review
Ancient Egypt is the destination for the next addition to ever expanding Slingo stable. According to the blurb on Slingo Originals players can't "De-Nile" the brilliance of the game which boats "pharoah-ciously" good features. Thankfully that's all of the Egyptian puns that they could muster before running off to see their Mummy. The aim of Book Of Slingo is the same as with any other in the series. Spin the reels to generate numbers which in turn complete lines on the grid. Complete the lines to climb the paytable where you could win cash prizes or for higher prizes opt to take a bonus turn on the slots game which features expanding wilds.
Book Of Slingo takes us to Ancient Egypt and the images are of the era. A tomb - we think - is the location of the 5x5 grid which is bookended by Gods. Palm trees, sand and Pyramids complete the scene whilst appropriate music ensures that you know exactly what theme this game is about. To the left of the grid you will see the paytable which initially seems to show just cash prizes. However from 8 Slingos upwards the cash sums alternate with an OR and heiroglyphics which represent the bonus round option. Like all previous versions of the game it's designed to be played on mobile, tablet and desktop.
How To Play Book Of Slingo
The main aim of Book Of Slingo is to get lines - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. The more lines you complete the higher the prize you can win. Wagering on this version of Slingo starts at 10p. This can be increased up to a maximum of £100. The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site. Once you start the game the spins are automatic so you don't need to keep hitting the spin button. Each spin generates five numbers below the 5x5 grid. If any numbers match then these are marked off and changed to a jeweled scarab. When you complete a row of five numbers then you move up the prize board.
Free Spins & Wilds
During game play you may pick up free spins, jokers (wilds) and blocker symbols represented by a cross. The latter prevent you from marking off a number. You may also get Book Of Slingo symbols on the spins. If three or more appear then you activate a free spins round. Like other versions of Slingo you may be invited to spin on after the base game concludes and any free spins used. You can then decide to pay the amount shown on screen for an additional spin, collect your prize or end the game. You can only wager-on for a maximum of 40 turns.
Cash Prize Or Bonus Free Spins
The prizes you can win from creating lines are usually cash related but for Book Of Slingo you have a choice should you achieve 8, 9, 10 or 12 Slingos. The choice is to take the fixed cash prize or play spins on the Book Of Slingo slot game. During these free spins one Egyptian God character will become an expanding symbol. The slot itself is a 5 reel 10 payline game which includes the book bonus symbol as a wild. If three or more of these symbols appear on the reels then this results in additional spins of 10, 15 or 20 depending on the number (x3, x4 and x5 respectively).
The Verdict On Book Of Slingo
Egyptian themed games are always popular and Slingo are hoping this game will rise as high as the likes of Cleopatra and Rick Wilde Book Of Dead. Graphically the base game is great although we're not overly excited by the slots bonus round. Usual Slingo strategy applies here - do you wager on being the main decision. However there's also the addition of deciding to take a fixed prize or the bonus spins. In our trial play each time we chose the bonus we ended up with a prize less than the fixed total. With that in mind we'd suggest taking the fixed prize each time. Overall this is an entertaining version of the slots meets bingo game but we've been more impressed with other recent additions such as Lobstermania Slingo.
