Double The Fun
Added on Wednesday 28th August 2013
Mecca Bingo have returned to our TV screens with a new advert. Out goes the Everyone's A Winner pink Beetle and in comes a new flashier ad under the strapline "life's more fun when you double it". This refers to the 100% welcome bonus all new players receive when they join the site.
The advert features various characters who have more fun when they double up. There's a glamourous model who's hair goes from big to bigger, a male model who goes from hot to hotter, and a dog who goes from lucky to luckier. This is wrapped up with the Mecca Bingo player doubling up their fiver to a tenner so that they can play on a variety of devices including mobile and iPad.
The presence of the male model who gets hotter by appearing as a half dressed fireman doesn't really lend anything to the proceedings. It does seem that whoever put together this campaign had spotted Wink Bingo's Dream Idols and thought they'd like to jump on that bandwagon! Not cool.
The coolest part of the advert though is the music and this is "Brass, Beats and Bongos" by Skewiif & Syd Dale. As bingo advert music goes this is simply one of the best tunes chosen - ever. As Mecca Bingo have this then we can actually forgive them for the rest of the advert. The idea of doubling our fiver to a tenner doesn't jump out - and most certainly it's not a bigger, hotter or luckier offer than other bingo sites offer.
If Mecca Bingo are going to use this approach to promote their site over the coming months then we really think they need to come up with an offer that's a little bit better than turning £5 into £10. Even more so when rival sites on the Virtue Fusion Network, like Gala Bingo, Paddy Power and William Hill, offer more in the way of a welcome bonus. Great music though!
