Hippo Bingo Review
Animals and birds are popular icons for a bingo brand. Joining the fox, cow, duck, chicken and crocodile in the bingo stakes is the third Dragonfish brand from Quick Think Media (now Silverspin). Hippo Bingo joins Lucky Charm and Bubble Bonus in offering players the standard network platform alongside it's own exclusives.
Hippo Bingo actually launched in 2011 but has been revamped a couple of times. The latest change has unfortunately seen the demise of the site's main character - Hetti the Hippo. This leaves the site, like many others that have suffered under UKGC compliance, just that little bit lost. If you visit a site called "Hippo" then you'd expect to at least see one hippo!
Lack of big game animals aside, what else can you find at Hippo Bingo? New players are welcomed with 200% first deposit bonus. Details of the current offer can be found at the top of the review, along with any important wagering terms. In addition, all new players can enjoy 72 hours of free bingo, with no deposit needed, in the Daily Doozey room.
Free Hippo Bingo
As well as the Daily Doozey, you'll find more free games via Quids In, On The House, Freebie, The Sunday Sizzle and Magical Mondays. If these names sound familiar then it's because Hippo takes many of it's promotions from the Dragonfish Network. Joining the free games are the 75 ball and 90 ball rooms, daily jackpot games, progressives and of course various slots.
All this is bundled up into a site that is accessible via mobile, tablet and desktop. No app is available for Hippo Bingo, but then no app is needed to play on mobile devices. The Dragonfish platform also offers several deposit options and everything is safe and secure.
Thankfully, it's not just network games and promotions at Hippo. They do have exclusives such as The Big Night In Room, which is open from 8pm and 12am! Tickets kick off from as little as 1p each. There's also the Pennies Make Pounds Room where you can play for prize pools of up to £30. Tickets are either 1p or 2p and the room is open from midday to 3pm.
However, in comparison to other sites from this group - namely Bubble Bonus and Lucky Charm. Hippo doesn't offer players additional bonus opportunities. Ultimately where you choose to play will be based on whether you want more for your bingo money. But remember, extra bonuses also mean extra wagering terms.
When we last reviewed Hippo Bingo, we noted that they had a decent social media presence on Facebook. That sadly is no longer the case as the Hippo Bingo Facebook page is now left to fester. Their Twitter presence ended back in 2015. It seems like social media is now the arena for big brands only.
In the past we described Hippo as "a fun site hidden away amongst a sea of more well known brands". Unfortunately we're now just a little less impressed. The brand's exclusives aren't stand out and that means we now have just another Dragonfish powered brand. The loss of Hetti as the focal point of the site is sad and means Hippo simply has no character.
The penny bingo games and free bingo are plus points - and for us the main reasons to visit.
