Play Hex Bingo - 30 Ball Bingo
Article Updated On 19th August 2020
In a strange quirk of fate bingo players now have not one but two new bingo games to enjoy that involves hexagons. Just one week after Hexabingo launched on Relax Gaming sites, Tombola have added Hex Bingo to their roster of games that already include Paper and The Machine. Tombola's take on the six sided shape is slightly different to that adopted by the likes of Unibet and Bingo.com. But is it a game which will get you all "hex-cited"?
- Type Of Game: 30 Ball Bingo
- Cost: 10p to £2
- Open: 24/7
- Jackpots: x10000 Stake (12 calls or less)
- Extras: x1000 Stake Jackpot (14 calls or less)
- Special Features: Win Your Stake Back Feature
How To Play Hex
As is typical for Tombola this game has a very gentle setting. Open up the Hex Lobby and you're given a list of room options. The rooms all have three lettered names such as SOL, ZIG, TRI, ZAG, SUB and ZEN. The background music seems to be lifted straight out of a spa. Before you become too soporific choose your room and enter the Hex game. At this point you'll be asked to select a stake (10p to £2) and also to choose your Stakeback Colour. There are five different colours to choose from including blue, purple, red, orange and green.
No matter which stake you select you'll be playing the same game as other roomies. The Stakeback Colour Feature is an interesting element to the Hex game. If your selected colour matches the colour of the final call of the game then you get your money back. For example if you wager 25p and choose orange and the last call is an orange number then your money is returned to you. You can see which colour other players have selected before eyes down.
30 Ball Bingo
Hex is a 30 ball bingo and the object is to get a full house before the other players. Your bingo card is made up of 10 numbers. These appear as little heaxagons around a bigger central hexagon where the number calls appear. When the game begins the numbers drop on to the big hexagon and any matched numbers removed from the card. Remember that even if you're not doing well with the calls that you can still win on the Stakeback Feature.
There are additional prizes to be won with Hex. Call house in 12 calls or less to win a jackpot prize equivalent to x10,000 your initial stake. There's a x1000 jackpot on offer to any players who call a full house in 14 calls or less. We suspect that there won't be too many jackpot winners with Hex simply because the odds of winning are quite high. Just for info you can win up to £20,000 on Hex (for a £2 stake) whilst the max prize on Hexabingo is £100,000 but there you need to wager £100!
Whenever Tombola launch a brand new bingo game you automatically know that it's going to look great. And Hex is no exception. The design is simple but incredibly effective. Using hexagons to create the bingo card and show off the calls means that the design is perfect for mobile, tablet and desktop play too. One thing you'll find with Hex is that the background music is very relaxing which somehow makes the speed of the games much slower than they actually are. In fact there's a new Hex game every couple of minutes. Tombola are very clever with their psychological usage of colours, design and music in their games.
But does Hex get us "hex-cited"? Yes and no is the answer! We like the look of the game and the design. We also like the idea of the special feature which gives you the chance to win your stakeback. However on the flipside matching the final colour seems to be a pretty difficult task. After multiple plays we finally managed to win once on the the feature. Of course you can't win everytime but once in 20 games isn't enough to entice us back in again and again. And there's also the perennial issue with Tombola Bingo games! And that's that they are so popular it's hard to actually win a full house. At least you can lament your bad luck with other roomies in the chat room.
