Sky Vegas are always rolling out new slots games and their latest one is called Time Machine. It's a 5-reel 20-line story slot machine based on a time travel theme. It's a bright coloured game that requires you to "win plutonium" so that you can time travel via "wormholes". Think Back to The Future meets Video Killed The Radio Star meets Dungeons & Dragons and you're on the right lines.
The problem with Time Machine is that the story takes forever to work your way through. You need plutonium - earnt when you get 3 or more cannisters in a win line. That often requires 4 lines. You then need Worm Holes to progress to the bonus round.
We must have played over 100 times just to get past stage one - and by that time Time Travel had lost it's general appeal. The bonus round was simply pick a Dinosaur Egg. You choose your win bonus and can then pick an artefact for your Inventory.
Confused? You will be, you will be! Time Machine is perhaps just a tad too clever for itself. A story arc for a slots game is a novel ideal (no pun intended) but it can become incredibly tedious. By the same token if it was too easy/too quick then players wouldn't return.
If you do return the good news is that the story takes off from where you left it - so all your effort and spinning isn't in vain.
There are a number of rounds to time travel to including Jurassic, Roman, Warships and 1960s Rock Band. At the end of the game you then auction off your artefacts for an extra reward. Our feeling is that by the time you've reached the end auction bonus game you've probably spent enough to buy most of them for real.
